Then one can attain it. Like the Bodhisattvas, one achieves the ultimate enlightenment of eternal bliss, like the Buddhas. Therefore, one should think: I must accomplish the perfect happiness of both temporary and ultimate benefit. Therefore, if one has not entered the path of liberation, one will fall into the lower realms due to non-virtue, and even if one is born in the higher realms by doing good deeds, one will still revolve back into the lower realms. One should generate from the depths of one's heart the thought: All that is done is the cause of suffering! This is the measure of habituation. Therefore, it is necessary to turn away from the suffering of samsara and generate strong aversion in one's mind. Third, training the mind by contemplating various circumstances: When born in samsara, there is no trust or reliance. (326) Bestowing kindness is repaid with harm, food and drink become the cause of disease and death, accumulating possessions fulfills the desires of enemies and thieves, and relatives and friends who are relied upon for help turn into harmful enemies. Even without causing harm, one is subjected to meaningless slander and accusation, and no matter what one does, one cannot please others. There is no end to this, it is truly lamentable! If one contemplates the thoughts and actions of sentient beings from the depths of one's heart, as mentioned above, even if one bestows kindness, some are pleased while others are not. No matter how one thinks, it is impossible to benefit everyone. All that is done is of the nature of suffering, and the causes of disease and death are countless. It is impossible to truly benefit from these. Because there is no other refuge than the Lama and the Three Jewels who do not deceive hope, if one generates devotion and makes offerings, it is the cause of happiness in this life and the next. One should think: One must completely turn one's mind towards virtue. Contemplate the good and bad circumstances that have occurred in the past, are happening now, and will happen in the future, and thereby generate aversion and reduce one's pride. (327) Therefore, one should generate compassion for the sentient beings of the six realms, and think: How wonderful it would be if I could devote my energy to making offerings to the Three Jewels and the Lama! This is the measure of proficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to have faith as a prerequisite. Fourth, training the mind by realizing that all that is done is meaningless: My activities in this life, supporting relatives, subduing enemies, farming and settling disputes, engaging in business and seeking profit, craving excessive profit, pursuing fame, attachment and hatred, offering advice out of concern for others, seeking power, and desiring sweet words.

Etc. From then on, enjoying and associating with relatives and friends, whatever is done, such as taking up residence, houses, and towns, will not go with you on the morning after death, so it is useless. Whatever actions have been done since yesterday, they will not come back except as a memory, so it is like a dream last night. Today's appearance is like tonight's dream. All the things to be done from tomorrow onwards also seem to be like a dream tomorrow morning. For these, spending time with meaningless attachment and aversion, fighting, pleasant and unpleasant things, accumulating happiness and suffering, and various kinds of activities is such a waste. The appearance of the world is like the deception of illusion. From today onwards, I will no longer be deluded and simply let go. I think I must practice the instructions of the holy lama in my mind. Therefore, without trusting any appearance, thinking that I must obtain the instructions of the lama, the emergence of such a strong desire is the measure of accomplishment. Therefore, there is a need to enter the instructions of the lama. Fifth, training the mind by relying on the qualities of the Buddha: The one who has transcended all the faults of samsara is the Buddha, whose body shines with marks and signs, whose speech turns the wheel of Dharma, whose mind does not move from the state of wisdom, who is the supreme guide of all the worlds including the gods, who is the sole refuge and support, so it must be attained. There is no benefit in not becoming a Buddha, and to become a Buddha, one must also practice the path. If one does not practice the path, one cannot become a Buddha, so one must practice. Emulating the accomplished masters, one must practice single-mindedly. They endured many hardships and attained liberation by practicing alone in secluded places, so I too must abandon the affairs of this life and practice in a secluded place. Therefore, if one does not practice, one cannot become a Buddha, so the thought of having to practice arises in the mind, which is the measure of accomplishment. Therefore, practice requires patience. Sixth, training the mind by contemplating the instructions of the lama: The helmsman who liberates from the boundless ocean of samsara is the lama, and the great ship of the means of liberation is the instructions of the lama. Practice as it is said.
