For the sake of reversing mistaken views! As stated in the Tantra of Manifesting Play: 'If one meditates on the generation stage for three eons, the merit of pleasing the guru cannot be measured.' As stated in the Glorious Root Tantra of the Emerging Samvara: 'Having completely abandoned all offerings, truly engage in offering to the guru. From pleasing him, one will attain the supreme wisdom of omniscience.' As stated in the Root Tantra of the Magical Net: 'If one offers the five objects of desire to the master of all mandalas, it is an offering to all mandalas. What need is there to mention the nearby mandalas? All faults will be purified, and supreme qualities will be attained.' Thus it is said. To the glorious and venerable guru who is fully endowed with supreme qualities, who guides the three realms, I rely with reverence in order to accomplish the meaning of this life and the next. I will attain a vast treasury of qualities of liberation. Never forgetting the kindness at all times, the root guru is superior to all Buddhas. From pleasing him, all qualities arise, so those with fortune should rely on him with pure conduct. Following the four activities of deeds and conduct, subduing with various methods of pacifying and wrathful means, the ocean of intention and conduct is immeasurable. Such a guru should be relied upon with unwavering reverence. In general, pure and impure are one's own appearances. If one's own faults are purified, it is impossible to see the faults of others. If one has both faults and qualities, then one's view of others is just alternating between faith and respect. If one's own mind is tamed, then everything appears as a friend. Therefore, cultivate pure perception and devotion towards everyone. All of existence, both container and contents, appears as the guru. Realize impermanence, unreliability, and lack of inherent existence. These are my supreme heartfelt words, so towards all appearances, whether enemy, friend, or neutral, recognize them as wondrous emanations of the Victorious Ones. Tame your mind from the heart, and examine only your own faults. Day and night, without a moment's distraction, contemplate the qualities of the supreme guru and the qualities of the teachings. Use the reminder of death as a whip. Contemplate the faults of samsara and the qualities of liberation. Leisure and opportunity are hard to find, and encountering the Dharma is rare. Therefore, always mix Dharma with your mind, and do not think even a little about non-Dharmic activities. Practice Dharma, cultivate Dharma, and strive day and night in Dharma. All good qualities arise as desired. Thus it is said.

May all beings, through the virtue of my efforts, unite their minds with the Dharma and tread the path of liberation. May they tame their own minds, ripen the minds of others, and swiftly attain the state of perfect Buddhahood. This is entitled "The Ocean of Actual Attainments: A Lineage of the Secret Essence Heart-Drop." It was composed by the great Dzogchen yogi, Longchen Rabjam, at the neck of Gangri Thökar (White Skull Snow Mountain). The Preliminary Instructions on the Seven Points of Mind Training are presented here. To the assembly of gurus, yidams, and dakinis, I prostrate with reverence through body, speech, and mind. In order to enter the meaning of direct perception of the essential point, I will clearly explain the essential instructions on the seven points of mind training. Among these, for the sake of gradually leading fortunate beginners into the meaning of direct perception of awareness, the methods for practicing the seven points of mind training as explained in the "Precious Copper Letter Box" are seven in number: (324) First, training the mind by contemplating impermanence: Externally, the changing of the four seasons, and the impermanence of day and night, even in an instant or a snap of the fingers; internally, the changing of the aggregates of the four elements, like a collection of water bubbles that quickly disintegrate and have no essence, is also impermanent; secretly, the death of parents, relatives, and friends is also impermanent; when will such a situation occur to oneself? There is no certainty of not dying even today or tomorrow. One should think like this: Will I die tonight? Will I die tomorrow? Without distraction for even an instant from the depths of one's heart, one should contemplate. When seeing other sentient beings, one should also think: All of these have not escaped death. When will they die? One should meditate in this way. Thus, one understands that all conditioned phenomena are of the nature of impermanence. Seeing examples of impermanence and developing a sense of renunciation is the measure of accomplishment. Meditating in this way is necessary to turn the mind away from samsara. Second, training the mind by contemplating temporary happiness and ultimate happiness: Non-virtuous actions create all the causes of suffering and the lower realms, while virtuous actions create all the causes of happiness and the higher realms. The nature of samsara, with its ups and downs, is like the turning of a water wheel, changing and not lasting. This is very sad. The excellent method for not falling into samsara is only liberation and enlightenment. It is unreliable and very deceptive. This is very amazing. If one enters the path of liberation, the temporary happiness is the higher realms, and the qualities of goodness increase.
