These two are, according to their nature, distinguished by the five paths as learning and non-learning. It itself is the ultimate result, so it is named the first place of liberation, but it is not like arriving later from the beginning, and there are differences between being with and without defilements, therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between the ground and the result. Second, to become accustomed to the means, when abiding inwardly or when self-liberation arises outwardly, one should practice abiding in the state of awareness, and having decided that that state itself is the intention of the Buddha, to let go without hope, fear, correction, or fabrication is called the instruction of awareness, because self-awareness is the original Buddha, and one abides in it after recognizing one's own nature. Moreover, it is important to have the three unchanging instructions. What are they? The king does not change after taking the throne, just as when the great king ascends the throne, merely by not moving from the throne in the palace, all beings, internal, external, and intermediate, abide without disturbance, the king of spontaneously accomplished awareness abides in the heart, recognizing one's own nature, and when there is no hope or fear, the alaya consciousness of various habits, together with the eight consciousnesses, all go to original purity. The minister does not change after being imprisoned, just as when a wise minister is imprisoned by others, he must listen to the king's command, when the movement of the mind's consciousness ceases, it is listening to the command of the king of awareness, that is, abiding in one's own nature. The subjects do not change after being subdued, just as when the king subdues the entire country, he must listen to the king's command, when the manifestation of the five sense consciousnesses disappears, there is no name for samsara. Moreover, all the dharmas of samsara depend on the mind, so when the nature of the mind is purified, samsara is also purified. All past events depend on the wisdom of awareness, so by abiding on the basis of the nature of awareness, all the key points of manifesting as the self-nature Buddha are contained in these two. Here, I will briefly explain the difference between these two, the nature of the mind is ignorance, the nature of awareness is wisdom. The nature of the mind is the basis of karma and habits, the nature of awareness is not the basis of karma and habits. (Page 415) The nature of the mind is the nature of grasping and attachment, delusion, the nature of awareness is the nature of being free from grasping and attachment, and not being deluded. The nature of the mind is with the limits of elaboration, the

The nature of mind and rigpa is free from all elaborations. The nature of mind is the alaya and the eight consciousnesses. The nature of rigpa is beyond the alaya and the eight consciousnesses. The nature of mind is dualistic samsara. The nature of rigpa is non-dual nirvana. The nature of mind is the bindu riding on the winds. The nature of rigpa is self-illuminating without winds. The nature of mind is conditioned and dependent on causes. The nature of rigpa is unconditioned and free from causes. The function of mind is wind. Its nature is dependent on rigpa. The function of purified wind is the wisdom wind, free from coming and going. The nature of rigpa is independent of mind. The nature of mind appears as arising and ceasing. The nature of rigpa is unchanging. The nature of mind is the obscurations to be abandoned. The nature of rigpa is the wisdom to be attained. The nature of mind is sudden delusion. The nature of rigpa is the primordial dharmakaya. These are only (416) symbols. Although vast, it is limitless. It can be known through six aspects: place, path, door, ability, way of encountering, and way of turning away. That is, when the mind is with distraction, rigpa does not clearly manifest. When rigpa abides in its own purity, the mind is not clear. It appears as if one arises and the other ceases. When rigpa abides, the bindu dissolves into the base, so the mind momentarily ceases. Finally, the coarse matter manifests as light, or when forgotten, it ceases due to the cessation of wind. When the mind arises, the bindu appears directly, so because the nature of rigpa is not clear, although it seems like cessation, there is no cessation, because there is no arising and ceasing. Thus, it is crucial to distinguish between mind and wisdom. Thus, all meditations are also like that. All the ways of purifying wind and rigpa are also like that. Finally, at the time of liberation, it is also the rigpa that purifies obscurations because the mind is purified. The intention that abides in body and wisdom, and all the key points are there (417). In the common vehicle, not distinguishing these two, enlightenment is not attained in kalpas or lifetimes. In the uncommon vehicle, with the inconceivable dharmakaya, self-recognition in an instant, so the key point of purifying wind and rigpa in one lifetime and becoming a Buddha is also like that. The secret key point that the foolish, arrogant scholars and the ignorant who throw stones of darkness do not know is that which has reached the peak of the Vajrayana.
