Meditate! The places to meditate are lush medicinal lands, the banks of rivers, mountaintops, and other places that are very pleasing to the mind. This is because of the interdependence of inner and outer. In these places, during the three winter months (72) and the first month of spring, primarily adopt the elephant posture. From the middle month of spring to the middle month of summer, for four months, with the yoga of coolness and tranquility, mainly learn the posture of a sage. Then, for the three autumn months, for four months, with clear awareness of space, primarily adopt the lion posture. If considering a single day, in the morning, adopt the elephant posture. At noon, the lion posture, and in the afternoon, abide in the posture of a sage. In the evening, the sage posture, at noon, the elephant posture, and at dawn, with the lion posture, meditate on awareness in clarity and emptiness. Furthermore, in the evening, meditate on tummo (inner heat), from the རཾ་ (Tibetan, ram, Devanagari, ram, Roman transliteration, fire) below the navel, flames blaze, visualize the body inside and out as a mass of fire, and hold the breath in kumbhaka (union). At noon, the great elephant is the sleeping posture of the Buddha passing into nirvana, in the heart, hold awareness in the fivefold luminosity and sleep. At dawn, arise and with the lion posture, exhale into the sky, and place awareness firmly in the state of clarity and emptiness. (73) If discursive thoughts arise, place awareness on the white letter ཨ་ (Tibetan, a, Devanagari, a, Roman transliteration, a, meaning: absence) in the sky of a fully drawn bow, hold the breath slightly inward, without moving the eyes, abide in the nature of bliss, clarity, and emptiness, and the lamp of self-arisen wisdom will be attained. These methods are extremely secret, and should not be transmitted to more than one fortunate individual. The result is the swift attainment of complete nirvana. Emaho! Extracting the essence of the ultimate heart of all dharmas, the path of the profound luminosity vajra essence, the extremely secret oral instructions of the dakini heart drop, whoever sees it will attain Buddhahood in one lifetime. From the heart drop that is extremely profound, extracting the essence and placing it in the palm of the hand, this is the essence of the mind treasure of Orgyen Padmasambhava, the essence of the ripening fruit of the east, this supreme method has befallen me. On the summit of the white snow mountain, the profound key points, the meaning of the well-arranged and hidden luminous wheel, may it meet with fortunate individuals of future generations (74). The Luminous Wheel, completed by Padma Lasrel Tsal for the benefit of future generations. May it be virtuous! May it be auspicious! Precious golden paper.

Section: Introduction to the Ground Appearance. Homage to glorious Samantabhadra. Here, there are three aspects: the introduction to the nature of the ground, the way to practice the path, and the demonstration of the degree of liberation as the result. First, the so-called primordial great purity, which exists before the separation of samsara and nirvana, is the realm of the nature of reality, the naturally pure state, empty and free from elaboration, clear and free from grasping, aware and free from conceptualization. It is like the clear autumn sky, and the awareness during meditative equipoise is recognized. Then, the appearance of spontaneously accomplished jewels is the outward manifestation of clarity from the state of primordial purity. Its essence is empty, its nature is clear, and it is accompanied by the resonance of compassionate awareness. It appears in various forms (75), but it is free from coarse clinging. It is like a rainbow appearing in the clear sky, or it is recognized as a large brocade cloak. Then, the great ground appearance is the appearance of all directions, above and below, as peaceful and wrathful realms after the appearance of spontaneously accomplished jewels. It is clear, radiant, naturally beautiful, radiating light, vast, high, with a wide summit, densely arranged, and a great appearance of a blissful realm. It is like the appearance of a peaceful and wrathful mandala in the sky, and it is recognized. Then, the appearance of the Sambhogakaya is the appearance of the realms of the five families in all directions from that very appearance. Above, the realm of the Sambhogakaya appears, and the nature of the Thangka, the realm of the Nirmanakaya, appears. Below, in the world of the six realms, the Nirmanakaya, the six Buddhas who tame beings, and the impure appearance of the Nirmanakaya appear. Although various sounds of all Buddhas and sentient beings are heard, there is no coarse conceptualization. (76) It is like the sound of various musical instruments playing when a cluster of light appears in the sky, and it is recognized. This is the explanation of the way to represent the ground. Secondly, the explanation of the way to practice the path is as follows: First, in a secluded, clear, and high place, like the clear and cloudless autumn sky, at a time when the nature is luminous, lying on one's back or sitting upright, or in the vajra posture, or like a lion, breathing in and out through the nostrils, directing awareness to the center of the sky, gazing without moving or shaking the mind, the awareness is clear and luminous, which is the pure sky itself.
