Also from that. For example, if one reaches the summit of Mount Meru, one sees the valleys below. Similarly, one sees the meaning of the lower tantras as they are, but the lower does not see the higher. Thus it is. Secondly, engaging in practice as yoga also has six aspects: First, the essence is to abide constantly in the great suchness, which is the meaning of view. From that very nature, it says, "Arising from constant abiding, therefore it is related to the very nature of practice." Thus it is. That is, in equipoise, one practices the meaning of non-grasping of clarity and emptiness, and in post-meditation, one knows it to be like a dream or illusion. Second, the etymology is that the mind abides in samadhi. From the Clear Expanse, it says, "The etymology is abiding in practice." Thus it is. Third, the characteristic is to place the mind one-pointedly on the meaning of the view. From the former, it says, "Practicing that very meaning of the view is called practice." Thus it is. Fourth, the distinction is among the union of skillful means and wisdom, of which this is the union. From the Clear Expanse, it says, "The union practice is supremely profound." Thus it is. Fifth, the manner of practicing is as it says in that very text, "Completely abandon laziness and indolence, and constantly abide in practice." Thus it is. Sixth, the manner of taking it into experience has two aspects: For those with elaboration, it is the yoga of four sessions. Morning, afternoon, evening, and dawn are definite. That is, from dawn until sunrise, one engages in recitation and reading texts, and so forth. From sunrise until noon, one practices Tögal, and at noon, one performs prostrations and circumambulations, and so forth. In the afternoon, one practices Tögal. In the evening, one performs the rituals of Torma and offerings. In the first evening session, one meditates on death and impermanence; in the middle session, one performs generation stage and recitations; at midnight, one sleeps. In the first early morning session, one prays to the lama; in the middle session, one practices Trekchö; in the last session, one practices bliss-emptiness and Tummo. At the beginning of all sessions, one generates bodhicitta; in the actual session, one does not focus on anything; and at the end of the session, one dedicates the merit. From the Clear Expanse, it says, "In order to put virtue on the scale, one should train in the yoga of four sessions." Thus it is. Second, the individual without elaboration should not stray from Trekchö and Tögal day and night. From the Lamp Illuminating, it says, "The oral instructions for practice are like a sequence; the union of day and night is like a sequence." Thus it is. During the day, one should train in the meaning of clear light, first with the view of the Nirmanakaya, from the sun to a distance of one cubit.

Without blinking, focus your eyes. In the center of the rainbow-like appearance of the pure space lamp, place the lamp of the empty bindu like an overturned round bowl. Visualize the Vajra chain appearing within it. After gazing for a moment, use the Sambhogakaya's way of seeing, slightly separating from the sun on the side and looking towards the right. Then, use the Dharmakaya's way of seeing to look upwards, and with the other two ways, look either sideways or straight ahead as you prefer. When you look in this way, you will see the appearance of space with five colors, about one cubit in length. The appearance of the lamp will be seen as a round bindu. The appearance of awareness will be seen as a subtle and flowing Vajra chain. Even if you look in this way and do not see the space and bindu, the key is to look with both eyes together. After seeing, guide it to the side. Whichever way of looking you adopt, when looking upwards, look up like a lion (392). When looking straight ahead, look directly like a rabbit. When looking sideways, look straight like an arrow. Looking slightly downwards from that is like looking like an elephant. As it was said before: The four ways of looking, like a lion, an elephant, a rabbit, and an arrow, are what a yogi looks at during the day. In the evening twilight, gather the senses into the essential point: At the navel, on top of a red four-petaled lotus, a short red A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) burns with fire like heat, rising upwards from the central channel, striking the Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ) at the crown of the head, causing bindus to drip, nourishing the fire, and burning away karma and habitual patterns. Bliss increases, and one abides in the state of bliss and emptiness. At noon, gather knowledge into the vase: As it was said before: At night, place knowledge in the vase. Gather awareness into the heart. The lamp relies in the center of citta. The bindu is hidden within the channels. Therefore, wisdom is clear within. Therefore, in the heart, a white A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) falls. In the Brahma aperture, a white A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A). Between the two, in the Avadhuti channel, one like a string of colored A's (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A), dissolving one and dissolving two. In the heart, from the state of clear light, the rays of light are clearly visualized in the channels like the sun in the starry sky (393). This is hiding sleep in the gap of clear light. At dawn, direct awareness to self-illumination: After getting up at dawn, exhale three long breaths saying Ha (Tibetan: ཧ, Devanagari: ह, Romanized Sanskrit: ha, Literal meaning: Ha). In the lion's posture, at the crown of the head, at a distance of one bow-length in the sky, from the A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) in the heart, a white A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) arises and remains still, from which the mind arises.
