Just as form is composed of gross shapes, so too must mind and speech have gross shapes. Just as speech is known as sound, so too should body and mind transform in the same way. Upon examining this and other such things, it is understood that all affirmations and negations (354) concerning one and other, existence and non-existence, are merely fabrications of the mind, and nothing exists apart from that. Knowing this is to seek out the flaws of the mind in the interim. Third, this mind that clings to such meaningless things as self, where did it first arise from? Where does it currently reside? And where will it ultimately go? Upon examining the mind itself in this way, it is discovered that it does not exist as arising, abiding, or going, and its essence is free from any identifiable characteristics. Realizing that it is a state of clear and empty nakedness, without trace or attachment, is the ultimate examination of arising, abiding, and going. This is to make the meaning of the natural state arise from non-arising. Perhaps someone will say, haven't we already discussed the examination of arising, abiding, and going, so isn't this just repetition? It is not repetition, because the previous examination was aimed at the object of observation, causing it to not exist, while this examination is aimed at the subject of observation, thereby landing on the level of essence. Second, introducing the arising of the ground in three ways: abiding as the adornment of the mind, radiating as the play of the mind, and abiding in the state of non-dual equality. First, relying on the three meditative postures, the mind abides as it is. As the Precious Lamp Sutra says: "From the nature of the three meditative postures (355), the meaning of primordial purity will be revealed." Therefore, the mountain king meditative posture is the unwavering body in the vajra posture. The ocean king meditative posture is the unmoving gaze fixed at a distance of an arrow's length. The awareness meditative posture is abiding equally in the state of self-existing dharma nature. At that time, the elaborations of negation, affirmation, good, evil, acceptance, rejection, and so on, will be pacified, and one will abide in the state of clear and empty co-emergent wisdom, the original primordial purity. The Prasangika says: "In the wisdom of the essence of primordial purity, there is no possibility of ignorance existing, numbers such as one and two do not exist, where there is no separation is the definitive conclusion, only wisdom can be established." And the Self-Arisen Self-Manifest says: "Transcending the extremes of permanence and annihilation, the stains of the four extremes are naturally purified." At that time, the mind itself, being free from elaboration, is the Dharmakaya; being clear and without grasping, is the Sambhogakaya; the unceasing display of various forms is the Nirmanakaya; the essence, nature, and compassion are inseparable. Like precious fine dust.

Furthermore, the complete and perfect Buddha is self-awareness itself. Its essence is unchanging in the three times, its nature is perpetually without cessation, and its compassion shines brightly upon all. (356) The Ornament of Clear Realization states: Wisdom abides in its own nature, indivisible in three ways. The Garland of Pearls states: From the very beginning of primordial purity, it cannot be said to be merely delusion. Likewise, what is not delusion? Therefore, delusion is originally pure. In short, the nature of mind abides in its own state without wavering, just as the ocean abides in its own state without wavering. In this way, it is naturally and spontaneously accomplished. Secondly, in that very state, whatever play of affirmation and negation arises, it is self-liberated without an antidote at the moment of arising, like a snake knot. The Ornament of Clear Realization states: The awareness that arises, like a snake knot, is self-liberated. Because there is no antidote, effort ceases. By its very nature, it is primordially liberated. The Subtle Arrangement states: Unobstructed potential manifests in any way. From the very moment of arising, it is liberated in its own place. It cannot be said to be merely liberated. Likewise, what is not liberated? Just as any waves that arise in the ocean do not go beyond the nature of the ocean, so too, any thoughts that arise in the mind do not go beyond the nature of the primordial purity of reality. Therefore, not welcoming or sending off any arising experience, but allowing it to rest in its naturally arising (357) state, is to realize that thoughts are the play of reality, thereby transcending the objects of acceptance and rejection, affirmation and negation. The Doha states: As long as it emanates from the mind, that is the nature of the protector. Are water and waves different? This is similar. Thus, without obstructing emanation, it is liberated into reality, just as the waves of the ocean subside into the ocean itself. The Marvelous King Tantra states: Just as the waves of the ocean, all the movements of the waves of the mind, dissolve into the primordial ground of the ocean. Or like salt dissolving in water. Saraha said: Just as salt dissolves in water, so too, the mind dissolves into its own nature. In any case, by allowing the emanated thoughts to rest, they dissolve back into their original source, as the Doha states: Like a crow flying from a ship, circling and circling, it eventually returns there. Thirdly, emanation and abiding are inseparable, in the ocean
