Among the instructions arising from that, there are three: the instruction for attaining Buddhahood in this life for those of supreme diligence, the instruction for attaining Buddhahood in the bardo for those of intermediate diligence, and the instruction for attaining Buddhahood in the realm of the Nirmāṇakāya of one's own nature for those of inferior diligence (332). The first of these has four aspects: how to explain the order of preliminaries, how to generate uncontaminated wisdom in one's own mindstream, how the four visions arise in the aftermath, and how to explain the final instructions. The first of these has three aspects: the common preliminaries of general Dharma, the uncommon preliminaries of one's own practice, and how to establish the essence of reality as Trekchö. The first of these is from the 'Longsal': "Love and compassion are the common path of Dharma, for the sake of entering the Great Vehicle." And from the 'After Death': "Cultivate impermanence, compassion, and bodhicitta." Therefore, at the beginning of the outer and inner preliminaries, there are three aspects to explaining how to cultivate impermanence, love, compassion, and bodhicitta. First, based on the changes of the four outer seasons, one's own life is impermanent. Based on the changes of the four inner elements, one's own life is impermanent. Secretly, based on the changes of moments, instants, and brief periods, one's own life is impermanent. Based on the gradual passing away of many beings, one's own life is impermanent. By contemplating how the four elements dissolve, one's own life is impermanent. One should contemplate these things. In the 'Great Play' (333), it says: "Saṃsāra is impermanent, like autumn clouds. This body, which is taken up, will decay and separate. The four seasons are impermanent, changing and without essence. Growing old and decaying, it is of the nature of death. Moments, instants, and brief periods do not last. The life of beings goes like a waterfall from a steep mountain." And so on. Second, the way to meditate on love is as follows: All sentient beings in saṃsāra, wandering in beginningless saṃsāra, are all kind parents. Therefore, may all of them have perfect happiness. This is what one should think. In the 'Supreme Compassion Sūtra', it says: "The nature of love for sentient beings in existence, the single, unsurpassed medicine tree of happiness, may it pervade, with clouds of compassion, abiding in the supreme, non-dual wisdom." And so on. Third, compassion is: May all suffering sentient beings, such as those in the three lower realms, be free from all suffering. This is what one should think. In the

Also, in the Sutra Requested by Uma Dachok, it says: Seeing the assembly of beings filled with suffering, Unable to bear it with compassion, may they be free from suffering (334). Always acting to bring about only benefit, To that tree of compassion, I prostrate. Thus it is said. Fourth is the mind of Bodhicitta: Thus, may these sentient beings of samsara, May I separate them from the four rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and may they quickly attain the state of Buddhahood. As it is said in the Ornamentation of the Tree: O son of noble family, may these sentient beings wandering in samsara abide in the Bodhi of the Buddha. Thus, the accumulation of merit of that unsurpassed and immeasurable mind of Bodhicitta is immeasurable. The necessity of meditating in this way is: Because life is impermanent, one should turn away from worldly affairs and make whatever one does into Dharma; through the three, loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of Bodhicitta, one should turn away from the inferior vehicle and make whatever one does into benefiting others. In Klongsal it says: Through impermanence, compassion, and Bodhicitta, Enter the Dharma and go on the path of the Great Vehicle. Thus it is said. If one does not meditate in this way, there will be faults contrary to it. Second, the uncommon, One's own preliminary practice is to differentiate the three doors of outer body, speech, and mind, and proceed as a preliminary. The three doors of inner body, speech, and mind (335) are internally differentiated, purifying obscurations. The three doors of secret body, speech, and mind are brought to rest and returned to their original state. Among these three, first, from the three doors of body, speech, and mind, the body is also divided into differentiation and the actual preliminary practice. First, in the reductio ad absurdum, it says: If samsara and nirvana are not differentiated, Then even with the body, speech, and mind of the three realms, The connection will not be severed, Therefore it is said to differentiate samsara and nirvana. Thus it is said. First, this body is produced from ignorance, so it constantly wanders in samsara. In order to prevent it from wandering in samsara from now on, The differentiation between the body and samsara is: In "After Death" it says: In order to perform the preliminary practice of the body, Practice various actions of the six realms, Practice the actions of the Three Jewels. Thus it is said. Go to a deserted mountain, Now for the benefit of all sentient beings, Differentiate the body and samsara, thinking that this body will not return to samsara in the future, Then visualize the hot and cold hells, pretas, hunger and thirst.
