The special actions and oral instructions, if kept secret from others and held in the mind, will transform into supreme accomplishments. Therefore, do not transgress the vows. Thus it is said. Like this, the twenty-seven root precepts that are greater than body, speech, and mind, and among them, those that rely on the lama and vajra brothers and sisters are more weighty, so they should be confessed quickly. Moreover, transgressing the vows refers to the downfalls that are interrupted by daily offerings, and the situations of turning away from the vows. Decay refers to the downfalls that are not interrupted by a month. Transgression refers to the downfalls that are not interrupted by a year. For downfalls that have passed two or three years, one must retake the vows. Even lighter transgressions have a sequential order. In the tantra of "Vajra Sun, the Establishment of Vows," it says: Generally, within the distinctions of vows, one must clearly distinguish the differences in time. Whatever misdeeds are called transgressions of the vows, if they are not interrupted by a day, confess before the object of focus, and thus one will return to the original state. Decay refers to not being interrupted by a month, and confessing with strong remorse. If one transgresses the vows, then confess without interruption for years. From two to three years is called the breaking of vows, and if it is extremely severe, it can still be remedied. If it has passed three years, then it cannot be remedied. If one retakes them, both will be burned. One must certainly experience worldly suffering, and one can only continuously experience it. Thus it is said. The method of fulfilling is also spoken of therein: If one transgresses, confess through the feast gathering wheel. If one decays, fulfill it with one's own possessions. If one transgresses, fulfill it with children, wives, close relatives, body, speech, and mind, and with possessions. Breaking (page 325) is fulfilled with one's own life. If one turns away from that again, it is called great decay, and it cannot be remedied. Thus it is said. The meaning of the word "vow" is: In the Indian language, it is called Samaya (梵文,samaya,梵文罗马拟音,samaya, vow), which in Tibetan is called Damtsig (誓言). Explaining them separately, in the "Detailed Establishment of Vows," it says: Sa (梵文,sa,梵文罗马拟音,sa,earth) means arising, Ma (梵文,ma,梵文罗马拟音,ma,not) means not decaying, and it bestows all accomplishments. Ya (梵文,ya,梵文罗马拟音,ya,go) means if it decays, it will disappear. And, Dam (藏文,dam,梵文罗马拟音,dam, vow) means binding, if it is released, it will decay, and if it is transgressed, it cannot be remedied. Tsig (藏文,tshig,梵文罗马拟音,tshig, word) means if it is transgressed, one will experience the suffering of fire. Or, vows mean guarding the vows themselves, for body, speech, and mind, whoever transgresses the vows will be burned for hundreds of kalpas. Thus it is said. In short, the vo

That which is called uprightness is when one's own mind is without flattery, and is separated from all deceit and cunning. In short, the greatness of the secret mantra arises from the Lama, so pleasing the Lama has already been explained. In particular, it is said in the "Categories of Vows": "Those who desire the supreme accomplishment should act as the Lama has said. The Lama, the supreme one, has instructed that even if one knows the fault of a mistake, one should still act as he has said. Likewise, in the affairs of the Lama, even if one encounters the greatest physical suffering, one should still strive to do it to the best of one's ability. The Lama's mind should not be disturbed even for a moment. The Yogi should always protect the Lama's food and wealth as if they were his own life. If in the Lama's pure land, teaching the Dharma, giving empowerments, abiding in one's own place, and practicing meditation, one should not be stingy with resources. In short, whatever actions are done by body, speech, and mind, one must report to the Lama, and without permission, one should not act on one's own in the slightest. Furthermore, any virtuous action should be started after reporting to the Lama. In all the conduct of a Yogi, one should not be separated from the supreme Lama. Whenever one eats food at the three times, one should offer the essence of the food, divided into three parts, to the supreme Lama. One should offer wealth and precious jewels to the Lama Vajradhara, even if he has no need for them. One should offer the essence of whatever one has to the supreme Lama. In short, my mind, with a completely pure and unfeigned heart, should be focused on the Lama. Through the supreme virtue of complete purity, one can obtain all excellent qualities. Therefore, one should please the Lama." Thus, guarding the vows and pleasing the Lama leads to immeasurable merits. The Vajra Sun Tantra says: "Clearly separated from the three roots, divided into nine kinds, and further divided into twenty-seven kinds, the categories of vows, which reveal the special features of the mantra, have been gathered and explained. If one does not violate this, then the Vajradhara, the fully enlightened Buddha, will surely be attained in this very life. Therefore, one should strive with the mantra and be mindful. Those who desire the supreme accomplishment should not deceive the Lama, nor should they cut off the continuous affection for their Dharma brothers." The Vajra Essence Arising Place Tantra says: "The vows and precepts"
