The formation of rainfall, the time when autumn and early winter are mild and temperate, and the time when the flowers of the Sal tree and the leaves of the trees bloom are all excellent. As it is said in the Sutra: "The time of late summer, early autumn, early winter, and spring, when it is mild and temperate, is the best." Therefore, for beginners, the time to recognize the sun (28) is best in the morning when the sun rises and in the evening when the sun sets, because the manifestation is clear and the scenery is vast. The time for regular practice is in the autumn when the fruits ripen, practice increases and is easy to accomplish. In autumn, the fruits absorb the essence, the inner channels mature, and it is easy to understand the meaning of the heart essence. In early winter, when it is mild and temperate, the channels are comfortable and one desires meditation. When the Sal trees and other plants bloom, new merits arise. In addition, when there is no dust and hail, and the sky is clear, the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu is vast and clear. In this way, understanding the time and illness, one can quickly recognize it temporarily, and ultimately practice grows rapidly. As it is said in the Sutra: "Recognition is rapid and the appearance of practice is constantly increasing." The opposite fault is, as it is said in the Sutra: "If the wise do not indicate the key to time, the essence will stagnate and be separated from the growth of practice." At such times and places, meditation houses can be cool rooms of thatch and bamboo in summer, warm earth caves and rock caves in winter, and stone (29) rooms with mild temperatures in autumn and spring, etc., where one can practice alone as one pleases. Medium can be in retreat and silence. Even the lowest should not associate with anyone other than special Dharma friends, and the special wisdom of meditating on the meaning of manifestation is to indicate the cause of entering the teachings with seven characteristics. The second meaning is a brief explanation of the teachings that are the basis of the five perfections. As it is said in the Sound Sutra: "The rules are the basis of two kinds of teachings, for the sake of surpassing others, because they are uncommon and special, they are the signs of surpassing all vehicles. The causes and conditions of the common basis of teachings, in order to conform to other scriptures, are called common." Therefore, there are two bases of teachings, common and uncommon, and first, the common basis of teachings is explained, that is, the common vehicle that forms in the mind through various causes and conditions.

If it is said that in other scriptures, there are also complete teachings on the coming of the teacher, then here, in the Vajra Essence (30), which far surpasses those scriptures, in the vehicle that takes wisdom as the path, there are also rare and wonderful things such as the coming of the teacher. To declare the reason for this, which is the compassion of the teacher; the condition, which is the inclination of the beings to be tamed; the purpose, which is for the sake of future beings walking the right path. Briefly referring to the completeness of other vehicles, here I will speak briefly: Our teacher, the glorious Samantabhadra, is the reality of the original, primordial ground, the three aspects of essence, nature, and compassion. With the thought of the three bodies being inseparable, the wisdom of the mind, the self-born king, is stirred, with essence as the cause, with nature as the object, and with compassion as the condition for the use of the object, thus appearing. In a single instant, the essence is empty from the beginning as the Dharmakaya, the nature is clear and bright as the Sambhogakaya, and the compassion pervades all as the Nirmanakaya, and is realized. Knowing that the thought of the three bodies being inseparable appears in oneself, one becomes enlightened in the original ground itself. As it is said in the Net of Illusions: "In a single instant, one separates, in a single instant, one attains complete enlightenment." The meaning of this is manifested, and one is spontaneously accomplished as the original (31) Buddha, the great source that opens the path for all Buddhas and sentient beings. In the original, primordial ground, as it is, one abides in the thought of the three bodies being inseparable, without change in the three times. At this time, the place is complete, the Dharmadhatu is free from all elaboration; the teacher is complete, the self-knowing and self-illuminating king of awareness, compassion only manifests a small part, like the consciousness of the five senses, it dissolves without becoming obscured, and within, it is self-illuminating. The wisdom of all-knowing abides in the compassion of the original ground, and from within the treasury of wisdom, the self-manifested body and wisdom naturally shine with light. The retinue is complete, only nominally designated, without separation in any place, without the ability to separate, the object to be separated, or the separator. The Dharma of the vast expanse of Dharma nature is complete, abiding in the thought of great peace. Time is complete, the nature of Dharma nature is unchanging, in the original, primordial ground, in the great light, the three times are unestablished, the time of equality. (32) Elaboration
