Through the arising of skill, the five elements each generate their own skill. When these gather together, they form the world of outer and inner phenomena. Initially, in the empty sky, attachment arises, forming the wind mandala. Then, attachment arises in each of the elements, and upon them, water and earth are formed, creating cities including the iron fence, the four continents, and Mount Meru. Fire is the skill of wind, pervading all three elements. These are the ways in which the outer vessel is formed. Secondly, the way in which sentient beings, the inner essence, are formed is as follows: From Rangshar: "Desire, form, and formless realms, all three depend on it. Neither existent nor nonexistent, nothing at all, with no consciousness whatsoever, the formless ones are born from it. The pure abodes and other form realms are like drops falling from above. The Paranirmita-vasavartin and other desire realms. Gods (128), asuras, and humans, from manifest higher realms, are the three places. Animals, pretas, hell beings, and those sentient beings have four births. Thus, these three worlds, the five aggregates and five faculties, five limbs and five vital organs, five objects and five afflictions, five consciousnesses, five minds, five thoughts, grasping and being grasped, are formed into samsara itself." Therefore, the way in which the inner essence is formed from the outer vessel is as follows: At the center of the wind vajra cross, a slight warmth of the skill of wisdom arises. When it touches the water mandala, steam like smoke from a window crack arises in the water. When that steam touches the earth mandala, a warmth like dripping water into a pot pervades everything, and the essence of the four elements gathers. When the essence and the self-luminosity of wisdom mix, two small light bubbles arise. From the upper one swirling in the sky, gods of clear light, appearing but without inherent existence, arise. From that, in the form of rays of light, the four formless realms arise. From that, as the skill of awareness moves, the clinging to grasping gradually produces the seventeen realms of the form (129) realm. From that, the six types of desire gods arise. From these and the gods of clear light, and especially from the four great kings, humans of the four continents arise. These, in reality, become coarse due to the three poisons, and hell beings, pretas, and animals arise. Asuras arise from actions mixed with pride and merit in equal measure. Thus, the essence of the elements and awareness are fundamentally superior.

Having mixed, the body is formed, hence it is called sentient beings. From the second light, after a long time, the sun and moon appeared. They also arose from the essence of space, so they dwell in space. Arising from the power of wisdom, they are able to illuminate everything. Arising from the essence of wind, they move back and forth. Arising from the essence of fire, they have warmth. Among them, the sun is mainly composed of the essence of fire, so it is hot; the moon is mainly composed of the essence of water, so it is cool. From the power of these two, countless stars appear as forms of light. Then, the elements help each other to produce, from Soka to the three months of summer, plants and flowers flourish, the sun is long and hot. The elements are slightly (130) weakened, opposing each other, from the late autumn of the declining period to the three months of winter, the sun is weak and the temperature is low. The essence of the elements is the same in production, from the late winter to the three months of spring, and the same time when the essence grows and prospers, from the late summer to the three months of early autumn, the sun is the same. The essence of the elements scatters at the same time, so the sun and moon die. Again, the wind gathers, as before. From the changes of the moon and stars, there are also rises and falls, which also follow the rise and fall of the elements. Again, heat arises from the center of the wind vajra cross, hitting the water. The steam of water arises, hitting the outline of space and spreading. The power of wind and heat arises naturally, just as fire arises from the violent friction of two pieces of wood, heat spreads throughout the earth, and the steam rises into the sky and condenses into clouds, thus rain falls. Just as fine droplets arise from the steam of a boiling pot, they fall to the ground. The elements help each other, and from the flourishing essence of the elements, from plants and forests to sprouts, leaves, flowers (131) and even fruits, they arise in sequence. In autumn, when the power of the elements is the same, the fruits ripen, but the operations of the elements are only different in height and depth. Similarly, the food eaten by oneself is digested by fire, wind separates the essence and dross, water gathers, and earth solidifies it. The body generates strength, and from the essence of flesh and blood, bones are produced, and from the essence of bone marrow, bindus develop. From birth to the age of sixteen, it flourishes, and then until the age of thirty, the power is the same, and the essence remains itself.
