Therefore, the good one becomes a Buddha by distinguishing with a single moment of wisdom. The Magical Net says: "Distinguish in a single moment, perfectly become a Buddha in a single moment." Thus, the liberated Samantabhadra has three self-born dharmas: the oral instruction not born from scripture, the Buddha not born from mind, and the result not born from cause. First, without a lama who points out the scripture, self-born realization naturally arises, thus (119) becoming a Buddha. Second, not being confused in samsara, knowing that the awareness without the eight consciousnesses, including the alaya, is naturally liberated, thus attaining enlightenment. Third, without accumulating even a hair's breadth of virtue such as the two accumulations, seeing the reality of the ground, attaining the third awareness, and in the state of the ground as it is, the wisdom is spontaneously accomplished as it is. Therefore, this basis of liberation of Samantabhadra is also a field of activity difficult to realize even with wool, so it has been clearly and thoroughly explained. Fourth, regarding the confused ways of impure sentient beings, briefly explaining the ways of confusion in the three realms, explaining in detail the formation of the body in the desire realm, and summarizing the meaning of the ways of karma etc. in the alaya. Among these, the first part has three: explaining confusion outwardly, explaining confusion inwardly, and explaining confusion secretly. The first is as stated in the All-Illuminating: "Because the ground itself is not known, confusion arises at the time of the arising of grasping and the grasped, and the vessel and essence of existence gradually form." And as stated in the Space-Illuminating: "From wisdom itself arises the confusion of ignorance, the colors of wisdom are the five elements, originally just wisdom itself, without separation, ignorance is confused." And as stated in the Great Array: "In the spontaneously accomplished realm of emptiness arises, at that time, from the wheel of confusion of the basis of conditions, it becomes bound with grasping. From the objects of wind, water, fire, and earth, the difference between support and object arises. The ten places of the formless, form, and desire first arise." Therefore, not knowing that the appearance of the spontaneously accomplished palace of light and illusion is self-appearance, merely in the part of the essence, with co-emergent ignorance as the cause, with the appearance of the object as light as the condition, with the power of compassion stirring grasping as the main cause, these three acting simultaneously on the object, as the immediately preceding condition, being confused into grasping and the grasped, the light of...

From the emergence of (light) bubbles, entering into the bubbles of ripening habits. In terms of essence, in the realm of emptiness where nothing exists, in terms of nature, self-nature and images appear merely as light. From the aspect of compassion, subtle wisdom grasps the object of observation. From the light of self-nature, the body is formed. From the five colors of the image, the colors of the external earth, water, fire, wind, and space are formed. On the basis of the essence of nothingness, with the discriminating wisdom of compassion as the seed, at the time of spontaneous accomplishment, the awareness accustomed to the state of non-discrimination, with similar habits, focuses single-mindedly on the object that cannot be determined as either existent or non-existent. Therefore, it is mistaken for the birth-place of neither existence nor non-existence. Then, the dormancy of the emptiness of mind awakens, and abiding in the state of thinking that there is nothing, it is mistaken for the birth-place of nothingness. Then, merely knowing and clarifying the mind, without examining anything else, it is mistaken for the birth-place of infinite consciousness. Then, like the clear sky, the mind abides in the infinite, therefore it is mistaken for the birth-place of infinite space. Then, in the emptiness of space, the light appearing merely as color manifests as the object, and for this light, there is no discrimination, and the seeds of discrimination exist in the form of dormancy, therefore it is gradually mistaken for the seventeen meditative form realms, including Akanistha. Then, from the discrimination of mind, the body is also mistaken for the twenty coarse desire realm abodes. Secondly, the way of explaining illusion from within. In "Klong gsal," it says, "Initially arising from six kinds of ignorance." Therefore, not understanding the characteristics of essence, nature, and compassion. Essence is true ignorance. Nature is the object of perception. Compassion is the auxiliary condition. Therefore, sentient beings of the three realms, without committing even a single sin, wander in samsara. In the "Thal 'gyur," it says, "The cause of illusion is ignorance. Ignorance is of three kinds." Therefore, the three kinds of ignorance—the single self-ignorance, the co-emergent ignorance, and the imputed ignorance—are the cause. With the auxiliary condition of the cause, the auxiliary condition of the object, and the auxiliary condition of grasping, illusion arises from the appearance of wisdom. Although wisdom itself has no illusion, illusion arises due to causes and conditions, just as the sun itself has no darkness or obscuration, but because there are clouds obscuring it in between, the sun is not clear.
