Although I am in a place, I mistakenly take it to be the subtle support that is not born in the place of grasping. From that, in the second instant, afflictions and non-virtue, as well as the seven objects of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, arise as the coarse consciousness of the seven aggregates, appearing in the form of affirmation and negation, and I mistakenly take them to be the support of the seven aggregates. Therefore, the various habitual tendencies of samsara become the basis and so on. Like this (89), even now, when consciousness is active during the day, it arises from the basis, appearing as an aggregate that corresponds to the object, and when going to sleep at night, it dissolves into the basis, and it is thought that it temporarily dissolves into the original realm of the basis. That can also be illustrated by an example from one aspect, such as when a person is resting, the consciousness temporarily does not discriminate anything and remains in a state of non-virtue, this is the basis. From that, the object of appearance temporarily does not cease, and it is bright and clear, but because there is no grasping, the appearance of clarity and non-discrimination is the consciousness of the aspect of the basis. For that, such as hearing a sound, the mind arises with discrimination of whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, this is the consciousness of the aspect of the ear. Similarly, it should be understood for other doors as well. Also, when sleeping at night, the coarse seven aggregates that discriminate form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and so on, dissolve into the clear and non-discriminating basis consciousness of sleep. That basis consciousness also gradually dissolves into the non-discriminating sleep consciousness of the basis. That also dissolves into the unborn, inconceivable dharmakaya (90), and temporarily abides. Attaining that is called attaining the non-discriminating ground luminosity. From that, if one does not move from that, the sleep luminosity will appear, and if one moves, the basis will arise from the dharmakaya, and from the basis, the appearances of various dreams will appear to the basis consciousness. From that, when waking up, the appearances of the seven aggregates will appear from the basis consciousness, and during the day, one will make use of the objects of affirmation and negation. Secondly, the method of purifying the ground is: the original ground, the essence of the three, essence, nature, and compassion, emptiness and clarity, free from elaboration, that is the ground of the dharmakaya. The nature, luminosity, great bliss of appearance and emptiness, that is the ground of the sambhogakaya. Compassion, unceasing, with awareness, that is the ground of the nirmanakaya. Thus, whether in samsara or nirvana, when appearing and clear, the essence, nature, and compassion of the three

Not exceeding the three. In the chapter of the Body Tantra, "Za-og Berkhyim," it says: Even at the time of realization and Buddhahood, it does not exceed the three: essence, nature, and compassion. Even at the time of wandering in samsara due to delusion (91), it does not exceed the three: essence, nature, and compassion. Thus it is said. Third, regarding this, there are three ways to dispel disputes: by examining appearance and non-appearance, dispel what is unreasonable; by examining one and many, dispel what is unreasonable; by examining delusion and non-delusion, dispel what is unreasonable. First, there are two: The dispute is, is the primordial ground apparent or not apparent? If the former, it would become accompanied by delusion, like a coarse appearance; if the latter, it would follow that there is no appearance of body and wisdom, which would be a fault. The second answer is: There is no clear outward appearance, and since the essence is pure from the beginning, there is no fault of becoming coarse. The three kayas are inseparable inwardly, so there is no fault of not appearing as wisdom. Second, there are also two: The dispute is, are the three—primordial essence, nature, and compassion—one essence or many essences? If the former, like the essence being emptiness, nature and compassion would also become emptiness, without color or awareness, because these three are (92) one essence. If the latter, it would follow that these three are not inseparable, because these three are many essences. The answer is: From the perspective of essence, neither one nor many is established, so the basis of the dispute is not established. From the perspective of nature, the essence is one, but the aspects are different, so there is no fault of being one, and the faults of being many are also not separately many. From the perspective of compassion, the inner clarity is free from elaboration, so it transcends the grasping of one and many, and it is impossible to impose the mental constructs of essence being one or many. Third, there are also two: The dispute is, does the primordial ground have delusion or not? If it does, the primordial ground would become not the correct reality, so why would there be delusion? If it does not, then delusion would be without cause, the origin of delusion would have no cause for delusion, because there is no other cause for delusion besides it, and it is established as the same. The second answer is: Delusion is not established on the ground, so there has never been a cause for delusion, and the plan of manifestation has not ceased, so it is like a mirror. As has been said before. So, without a basis for delusion
