In order to realize the attainment of competence. Thus, for the ultimate support, two things are needed: temporarily accomplishing what is needed separately, and ultimately relying on the support of the higher ones to attain complete Buddhahood. Third, the way to attain the ground of great liberation is: After the completion of the four appearances, self-liberation in the original, primordial purity, is like a crystal ball that, after the removal of impurities, emits light. As soon as it is free from the condition of sunlight, the five lights dissolve into the inner clarity and abide. The initial primordial purity, outwardly manifesting clarity, is defiled by the mud of grasping and fixation due to not recognizing its own nature. However, by practicing the instructions of the four appearances, it can be cleansed, and as the five lights appear, the appearance of complete realization arises, exhausting the limits of the nature of reality. Again, as the five lights dissolve inward, when dissolving into the original ground, it is called obtaining the Youthful Vase Body, dissolving without confusion, clarity without distraction, and awareness without conceptualization, spontaneously accomplished. Its essence is emptiness, hence the Dharmakaya; its nature is clarity, hence the Sambhogakaya; its compassion is awareness, hence the Nirmanakaya, spontaneously accomplished without separation from wisdom. Again, for the benefit of sentient beings, while not moving from the Dharmakaya, with the appearance of the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya, in an instant, according to what is appropriate, performing the activities of benefiting beings, until the end of samsara, the constant, continuous, and vast manifestations appear limitlessly in the realm of space. These are the extensive explanations of the instructions for liberation in this life. Second, for those of medium diligence, the instructions for abandoning the body and attaining enlightenment are four: In the bardo of the birth place, cutting off the additions and subtractions with hearing and thinking; like entering a vast city, or like a merchant going to the Golden Island. In the bardo of dying, applying clarity, like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror, or like a king sending a messenger. In the bardo of the nature of reality, having faith in self-appearance, like meeting a friend who seeks the path, or like a child entering its mother's lap. In the bardo of existence, continuing the karma, like establishing a dam in a broken irrigation ditch. First, one should also be able to understand the vast city well, or like a merchant taking jewels in the ocean, considering crows and conch shells as the eggs of makara fish.

Just as cutting the ropes and leaving (376), here too, in the presence of the Lama, one thoroughly cuts the ropes of listening and contemplation, and enters the clear light of the Bardo. Among the three types of faculties, superior, middling, and inferior, the superior of the superior is liberated like a snake knot thrown into the sky; the superior of the middling is liberated like snow falling into the ocean; the superior of the inferior is liberated like an ice block melting into water. The first is that merely through the Lama's blessings and the infusion of profound instructions, the worthy disciple effortlessly and naturally liberates on the basis of Samantabhadra. The second is that by practicing the profound instructions, no matter what afflictions arise, one realizes their oneness with the nature of reality and is self-liberated. The third is that by practicing the fivefold introduction to the instructions, one gradually recognizes delusion as self-appearance and is self-liberated. Second, the Bardo of dying is being afflicted by the disease of death. Just as a beautiful woman sees her face clearly by looking in a mirror, or when a royal decree is sent, the person fears punishment and does not forget the message, so too, by clearly explaining the Bardo instructions, one fears Samsara (377) and does not forget the instructions. Among the three types of faculties, superior, middling, and inferior, the superior of the middling is like seeing a beloved friend; the middling of the middling is like seeing a clear face in a mirror; the middling of the inferior is like threading a needle. The first is that when all the signs of death are complete, without attachment to this life, if only the Lama's instructions are clearly present in the mind, that is sufficient. The second is that at the time of death, a Lama or a Vajra brother or sister who possesses Samaya inserts a tube into the ear and says into the tube: Ema! Son of noble family, in the Bardo of Dharmata, the appearances of body and wisdom will arise, recognize them as self-appearances. Do not be attached to the appearances of this life, pass away in peace! Say this three times. If there is no time to say it, when the breath is drawn in, place your mouth and nose against his mouth and nose, and visualize your breath as the three syllables Om (Tibetan: ཨོྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: ओ,Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ,Literal meaning: Om), Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ,Sanskrit Devanagari: आ,Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ,Literal meaning: Ah), Hum (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ,Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,Literal meaning: Hum) and imagine shooting these three syllables into his body like "Ha", when his eyes open, give the clear light guidance. The third is to practice the Bardo instructions without distraction for even a moment. That is, earth dissolves into earth, the body (378) becomes heavy and one cannot rise; water dissolves into water, saliva and nasal mucus flow; fire dissolves into fire, the body
