Ṭaṁ (ཏང་,Devanagari: तं, IAST: taṁ, meaning: stillness) is to abide in stillness. In terms of the body, outwardly, it involves various worldly activities such as trade and agriculture; inwardly, it involves inferior virtues such as prostrations and circumambulations; secretly, it involves abandoning distractions and busyness, and abiding alone. In terms of speech, outwardly, it involves various worldly idle talks; inwardly, it involves various recitations and repetitions (356); secretly, it involves restraining from verbal expression, like being mute. In terms of mind, outwardly, it involves various worldly delusions; inwardly, it involves various mind-holdings of generation and completion stages; secretly, it involves restraining various conceptual thoughts of memory and awareness, and abiding in a state of non-thought. Doing so has two purposes. Temporarily, one does not follow delusion due to being occupied with activities; ultimately, there is a need for the swift arising of uncontaminated wisdom. The second aspect has three points: the key to the body is to abide in three postures. That is, the posture of the Dharmakaya, like a lion, is to sit cross-legged with the soles of the feet together, the knees stretched outwards, the palms placed on the ground outside the thighs, or inside, holding the thumbs, the neck slightly raised, and the eyes gazing without moving at the sky between the eyebrows. The posture of the Sambhogakaya, like an elephant, is to lie face down with the knees and chest touching the ground, the elbows placed on the ground, the palms supporting the "Ola Ko" (ཨོ་ལ་ཀོ་) with the fingers touching the cheeks, the spine straightened, and the eyes looking sideways at the sky. The posture of the Nirmanakaya, the sage's cross-legged posture, is to sit cross-legged (357) with the shins of the legs aligned, the hands wrapped around the waist or knees, the spine straightened, and the eyes half-closed, looking at the space. The purpose of doing so is: temporarily, the first posture exhausts the internal elements; the second posture controls the moving winds; the third posture generates warmth and balances the elements. Ultimately, in sequence, it is to realize the meaning of primordial purity, to manifest the meaning of spontaneous accomplishment, and to manifest illusory appearances as pure realms. Second, regarding the key to speech, there are three points. First, abiding is to cut off speech and restrain idle talk. Stability is to speak only a little of one's own recitations and repetitions. Repetition is to say nothing at all except for gestures. The purpose of doing so is: temporarily, it reduces delusion.

And afflictions do not increase. Ultimately, one touches the meaning of wisdom, and in the realm of the speech of all Buddhas, one passes beyond sorrow. The third is the key point of the mind: When the sky is free from clouds, by focusing the mind without distraction, empty awareness arises in the empty realm. The necessity of doing so is: temporarily, one clearly sees awareness manifest, and ultimately, one attains complete Buddhahood. The third is the way to symbolize the secret path of wisdom: From the heart to the eye, connected by a vein like a white silk thread, within that, wisdom appears like the halo of an Indian star, so one should look within the eye. The way of looking at the Dharmakaya is upwards, the way of looking at the Sambhogakaya is inclined, slow, and peaceful, and the way of looking at the Nirmanakaya is downwards, half-closed, and very focused. Regarding the key point of the wind, the lips and teeth should not touch slightly, and one should exhale very slowly from the mouth. Regarding the key point of awareness, one should look without moving at the continuous appearance of light. By this, temporarily, the wisdom of awareness will be clear in the manifestation of the senses, and ultimately, the four appearances will cease, and one will attain complete Buddhahood. Second, the actual introduction of the essence itself: Although there are many forms, if we summarize them here, there are five sets of seven aspects. First, the introduction to the five Kayas: The awareness seen through the key points in this way, the Vajra continuous, is the self-sound of body and wisdom. The appearance of light and bindus, this self-nature appearing as clear light, is the body of Vairochana. The clear light is unchanging, it is the body of Akshobhya Vajra. That itself increases and possesses, it is the body of Ratnasambhava. The appearance is limitless, it is the body of Amitabha. The five lights spontaneously arise, it is the body of Amoghasiddhi, this is the basis. There, since there is no grasper and grasped, meditating in emptiness and clarity is the path. When the five families each manifest as bodies, it is the fruit. Second, the introduction to the five wisdoms: The clear light itself is without impurities and is the basis for the manifestation of the body, it is the Mirror-like Wisdom. That itself is without separation, it is the Wisdom of Equality. Upon that, the distinctions of mind each manifest, it is the Discriminating Wisdom. That itself is not sought, spontaneously accomplished, it is the All-Accomplishing Wisdom. All of that is free from the root of primordial emptiness, it is the Wisdom of Dharmadhatu, this is the basis. Meditating on that itself, clear and bright, is the path. That ultimately perfected, the appearance of samsara and nirvana as light, is the fruit. Third, the introduction to the five families:
