Establishing, the latter demonstrates the state of affairs of being equally placed in the meaning of subduing. (575) Second, recognizing the self-nature of awareness, there are three ways: recognizing through the method of transferring blessings, recognizing on the ground of the view of reality, and recognizing on the ground of experiential practice. The first is: Offering and praying with a grand gathering and feast, the disciples offer mandalas and maintain the posture of their bodies, taking the one who introduces recognition as the basis for meditation, and following the visualization sequence described earlier in Guru Yoga. That is, generating certainty that all faults are exhausted, all qualities are perfected, all needs are granted, and that it is the essence of the union of the Three Jewels, entrusting the mind with "You know what you do," and transforming the mind. Pray that the venerable root and lineage gurus, with immeasurable compassion, consider me and bless my lineage! Please bless me so that the special realization of the profound path may arise in my lineage! Like this, generate an unbearable feeling of devotion and intense emotion, with tears (576) flowing uncontrollably, and then the guru says: I pray to Dharmakaya Samantabhadra! Please bless me so that the experience and realization of the profound path may arise in my lineage! And so on, after blessing with the lineage prayer, the guru himself dissolves into light with immeasurable compassion, and dissolves from the crown of the disciple's head, making the disciple's three doors and the guru's three vajras inseparable. By loosening awareness in the state of freedom from elaboration and allowing it to settle, the roar of blessings arises. The appearance of the three doors merges with the guru. Discursive thoughts arise as devotion. In that state, relaxing and loosening, the radiance of awareness clearly appears as devotion. Habitual clinging naturally dissipates, and devotion is liberated into self-awareness. Self-awareness is liberated into the realm of unborn primordial purity, which is called this. In that state, without acceptance or rejection, naturally abide. Although this is not in the direct instructions of the root text, the practice experience of the gurus can quickly generate (577) realization, and the blessing is very great. Second, recognizing on the ground of the view of reality, as stated in the Essential Instructions: Then, recognize discursive thoughts as mind, mind as emptiness, emptiness as appearance, appearance and emptiness as inseparable, inseparability as self-liberation, the five poisons as self-liberation, and the six consciousnesses as self-liberation. Like this, recognize separation.

Among the seven points mentioned, the first is: Leave the three doors in their natural state. Allow any phenomenon of appearance and sound to arise spontaneously in the mind. In this way, all phenomena that appear in various forms are merely illusions of one's own conceptual thoughts, like appearances in a dream. There is not even a particle of truth to be found in external reality. Because on one basis, different appearances manifest to each of the six realms and other dissimilar beings; and even the same individual is uncertain whether others are friends or enemies due to differing conceptual thoughts. Therefore, no matter what conceptual thoughts arise from the mind, they do not move from the nature of mind itself. Since there is no duality of object and subject, one should be certain that conceptual thought is mind. Moreover, even the Buddhas have not seen, do not see, and will not see the essence of mind. So, what else can symbolize its nature other than these clearly arising conceptual thoughts? In "Vast Expanse of Clarity," it says: "The mind's memory is the function of ignorance; all that has become appearance and awareness is not separate from awareness itself." And in "The Gur Tantra," it says: "Apart from the precious mind, there is neither Buddha nor sentient being." Thus it is taught. The second is: That mind is not established as any of existence, non-existence, arising, ceasing, permanence, annihilation, and so on. It is free from all elaboration, and because it cannot be pointed out as "this," one should be certain that it is emptiness. In the Tantra, it says: "Looking back at the very nature of movement, it is self-liberated without abandonment, like a bubble." In "Joyous Vastness," it says: "The rootless nature of mind is not found when sought, and cannot be grasped. In the state of emptiness, as it is, primordially, it is inexpressible, self-arisen wisdom." Thus it is taught. The third is: Although its essence is emptiness and unchanging, because its own energy is unceasing, it can appear in any way. Therefore, in the Tantra, it says: "Unceasing energy can appear in any way; it is empty, clear, and aware, without change." And it says: "The nature of emptiness can appear in any way; the characteristic of appearance is without arising." Thus it is taught. The fourth is: Such appearances do not arise from other causes and conditions. Rather, it is the self-energy of emptiness, like the reflection of the moon in water, where appearance and emptiness are non-dual, abiding in the nature of self-knowing awareness. In "Union of Sun and Moon," it says: "For those objects that appear through conditions, who realizes that they have no inherent existence? In this, there is no duality of appearance and emptiness." Thus it is
