Like sunlight emanating from the veins, It will surely arise from the gate of the senses, The lamp illuminates the expanse of the sky. Thus it is said. Wisdom abides in the center of the heart, (472) Like a white silk thread, It manifests from the path of the veins. The very gate through which wisdom arises Is the meaning of the gate called "eye" (cakṣu, Devanagari: चक्षु, Romanization: cakṣu, literal meaning: eye), Where all the essence of the body is gathered. It shows the appearance of grasping at duality. Especially that which distinguishes good from bad, From the coiled horn-like object, That which is called "A-bhra" distinguishes black from white. It is aware and holds all forms, And fully manifests the self-power of wisdom. It truly arises from this. Thus it is said. An example of how it abides is as it says in the "Klong gsal": "The body of awareness is like a vase body, Wisdom is like a lamp in a vase, Compassion is clear like the surface of a mirror. The enjoyment body has body, speech, and mind, Qualities and activities. The body is appearance but without inherent existence, Speech is the unobstructed speech of awareness, The mind is the non-conceptual dharmakaya." Thus it is said. That which is the lamp appearing from the veins to the eye is the very radiance of compassion. The lamp born from compassion is like sunlight (473), The rays of the lamp are endless. The abiding light is clear within the citta, The light of self-nature is clear in the expanse of the sky. Thus it is said. How many lamps are there? As it says in the "Rangshar": "There are four lamps, as follows: The lamp of the empty bindu, The lamp of the expanse of awareness, The lamp of self-arisen wisdom, The lamp of the lasso of water. They abide in all sentient beings." Thus it is said. The sixth is the appearance in the three free from conditions, as it says in the "Klong gsal": "It will arise free from the three conditions," therefore, The root is free from conditions, it is the lamp of water. The place is free from conditions, it is clear and high. The object is free from conditions, it is a cloudless sky. That is also as it says in the "Yige Medpa": "The eye looks to the expanse of the sky, The light is subtle and arises condensed." Thus it is said. Also as it says in the "Thalgyur": "The dharmadhatu is outside and inside, Outside it holds the cloudless sky, The inner lamp is on the path (474)." Thus it is said. Seventh, first is the introduction, Second is the identification of how the four appearances arise, Finally, there are three pith instructions of reliance. First is to restrain the three postures of the body and the three ways of looking, and to look at the dharmadhatu with extremely slow breath, that is it.

From... The body should be like a lion and an elephant, abiding like a sage. The eyes should be turned downwards, looking with the corner of the eye. With slow movement of wind and awareness, wisdom is accomplished. Thus it is. Then, introduce the awareness that arises in the realm as follows: In the outer empty space, within the inner perfectly pure lamp of light, in the lamp of empty bindu, like a peacock's feather or throwing a stone into a lake, look at the awareness vajra chain without moving. At that time, the awareness, empty and clear, free from elaboration, the arising of wisdom, that itself is the lamp of self-born wisdom, so grasp and meditate on it. Thus it is. The necessity of this is, in the 'Vast Expanse of Clarity' it says: From the distant lasso (475), form is gathered, generated and increased by the wind. By the increase and decrease of coming and going, pure wisdom is gathered. By the empty bindu, all actions are done. Holding the wind of past actions, the wind generates radiance and splendor. Transforming, it shows the light of wisdom. By the lamp of self-born wisdom, all dharmas are equally of one taste, gathering and holding self-appearance. This cuts the continuum of habitual patterns. Gathering the clarity of space, holding the forms of awareness, by ripening the three key points into essence, samsara itself is abandoned. Thus, when the lamp arises in the eye, the key points of the Buddha's intention are gathered, holding the self-appearing realms. Thus it is. Moreover, through Trekchö, practice the self-liberation of whatever thoughts arise. Through Tögal, abide in the clear light of day and night, completing the two accumulations (476), purifying the two obscurations, accomplishing the two bodies, through Trekchö burning the firewood of the obscuration of knowledge on the mind, through Tögal, the obscuration of afflictive habitual patterns on the object of grasping, the coarse object, is emptied, and thus one goes to the primordial state of clear light wisdom, where grasping and the grasped are non-dual. Moreover, in the 'String of Pearls' it says: Practice Trekchö and Tögal. Thus it is. The second has four parts, the first is the manifestation of the direct perception of dharmata, in the 'Thalgyur' it says: The manifestation of the direct perception of dharmata, is definitely produced through the gates of the senses, clear in the cloudless sky. And, in the 'Vast Expanse of Clarity' it says: In the unconditioned sky, by the lama taming the way of seeing and introducing it, through the gates of the senses.
