Yoga meditation is far from the supreme meaning, Even shamatha-vipashyana union and equipoise, Are merely the lingering traces of conceptual thought, If the realization of the groundless meaning is not born, One cannot transcend the very place of the higher realms. Meditating to stop conceptual thought is also not the true state, Restraint does not restrain, anticipation makes it appear coarser, Like water in a pond, when will the afflictions cease? All dharmas are primordially equal in nature (415), In that which cannot be pointed to as "this" or "that," without grasping, It is defiled by being altered and transformed by the mind. However it appears, it is not established as such, So although various things appear, they are self-liberated in the innate state. Like water and waves in the ocean of wisdom, Although abiding without conceptual thought, it is in the unaltered state of dharmata, Appearing and ceasing alternately in the vast expanse of the ground, No need for negation or affirmation, it is self-arisen in the primordial state, The unchanging ground's expanse of intention is vast. Seeing all kinds of dharmas as illusions, And the destruction of affirmation and negation in the grasping mind, When there is not even a speck of grasping at "this is it," One realizes the emptiness of outer and inner dharmas. Whatever arises, it is enough to enjoy the dharma as one pleases, Like objects in the sky, one is not stained by anything. Without attachment to food, wealth, or gain, And understanding praise and blame as echoes in the rocks, When there is no clinging to enemies, friends, attachment, or aversion, The mountain of mistaken affirmation and negation collapses. Release whatever appears in samsara and nirvana as it is, Like a snake's knot, it is self-liberated in its own place by itself. Seeing oneself as inferior to all, And from the heart, being impermanent and short-sighted, When renunciation arises towards the dharmas of samsara (416), The dharma greatly benefits the mind. No need for pretense, act genuinely, The main witness is one's own unfeigned mind. Knowing various actions as manifestations of intention, And from the heart, having continuous devotion, When the interdependence of realization dawns in the mind, And love and compassion are without partiality, When pure perception arises towards those who practice the dharma, The blessings of the lama enter the heart. By the purity of one's own perception, the benefit of others is naturally accomplished, The clouds of siddhis are equal to the extent of the sky. The hope and fear of samsara and nirvana, affirmation and negation, are destroyed, And happiness, suffering, and adverse conditions are taken as the path, When doubt, confusion, and arrogance are completely resolved, The sun of realization rises from within.
