Regarding a question: The seven child initiations of Kalachakra (时轮金刚) are said to be worldly initiations, and it is said that through practice, one can attain the eight great siddhis (成就) and achievements up to the peak of existence. It is said that one cannot attain achievements beyond the world. The method of initiation is similar to the general wisdom initiation of Anuttarayoga Tantra (无上瑜伽部), starting with the water initiation and bestowing the seven initiations, but it is said that one can only attain the stages up to the seventh bhumi (地). This seems to be a very large contradiction. How can we differentiate this? There are two answers to this question: It seems contradictory on the surface, but in reality, there is no contradiction; if understood according to the literal meaning, it will appear to be a very large contradiction. The first explanation is: In the commentary on the tantra, initiations are divided into worldly and transcendent, and the transcendent initiation is emphasized as being more supreme, while the worldly initiation is expressed negatively, indicating its inadequacy. This is merely the statement of those who do not understand its true meaning. However, the 'Great Commentary' clearly states that after obtaining the seven initiations, one can practice prana control (命勤), and if the wheel of the mandala (坛城) can be manifested through prana control, then one can attain the stages up to the seventh bhumi in this lifetime. Therefore, there is no doubt that the seven initiations can lead to supreme achievement. Even if it is slightly later, one can attain the bhumi in the next life. These are all for the sake of qualified disciples with good fortune. Considering initiations and the stages of the path such as prana control as worldly and believing that one cannot attain supreme achievement is for the sake of unqualified disciples. There is no need to look for other examples; it is clear if you look at what kind of achievements those who claim that there is no dharma (法) more profound than Kalachakra (时轮金刚) have attained these days. Similarly, the higher initiations mentioned in Kalachakra (时轮金刚) are of ultimate meaning, while the fourth initiation mentioned in other Anuttarayoga Tantras (无上瑜伽部) is of expedient meaning. This statement also does not understand its true meaning. If this is the case, then before Kalachakra (时轮金刚) spread in India, how could those accomplished ones obtain the qualified fourth initiation and practice the pure stages of the path? In this way, they would not be considered accomplished ones, which would lead to very great faults. The second explanation is: If one understands the stated content according to the literal meaning, then one will commit the serious error of not understanding its true meaning. The 'Great Commentary' says that the noble path is divided into twelve bhumis (地), and the seven initiations cannot attain these fruits. According to the view of that tantra, the eighth to eleventh bhumis belong to the path of learning, and the twelfth bhumi belongs to the path of no learning. Therefore, Anuttarayoga Tantra (无上瑜伽部) appears to be very inadequate in the classification of the bhumis (地).
