It is said that 'great bliss without suffering' shows the three characteristics of the Sambhogakaya (enjoyment body), and the rest show the other characteristics, so there are seven characteristics. This statement is completely based on a misunderstanding of the subject matter. Therefore, I prostrate to the supreme deity who possesses the five qualities of pervasiveness, etc., and to the non-dual root guru: 'Guide, supreme guru, lord of the wheel, unequaled lord of a hundred families, Vajrasattva.' Among them, 'guide' refers to guiding beings out of the mire of samsara (cyclic existence), in a way that is appropriate to their individual capacities. As it says in the 'Compendium of Trainings': 'The noble ones of the three vehicles, those who have the intention of benefiting and bringing happiness, skillfully tame beings and subsequently show the benefit.' 'Supreme' refers to the most supreme among these guides, who gather all activities together and tame beings in the degenerate age. As it says in the sutra: 'All activities are the guru.' 'Guru' refers to the one who is majestic with the burden of immeasurable qualities, knows the thoughts of the author and sentient beings, and shows the path to realization. As it says in the 'True Name Sutra': 'Guru, great supreme mantra.' Shobhava Vajra explains: 'Guru, knowing the thoughts and latent tendencies of all sentient beings as they are, and clearly showing the path to realization.' The word 'wheel' has many meanings, but here it refers to the fact that, in the ultimate truth, while remaining unmoved from the non-dual wisdom, in the relative truth, in order to tame different objects, he shows infinite wheels of mandalas of emanations. As it says in the 'True Name Sutra': 'Holding various wheels of emanation.' Manjushri Kirti explains: 'Because the Tathagata (one thus gone) holds immeasurable mandalas, he is called holding various wheels of emanation.' Shobhava Vajra says: 'Holding various wheels of emanation, various means diverse. The emanation that shows the nature of the pure worldly and transmundane deities is the various emanation. Its wheel is the wheel of various emanations, that is, the mandala. Because he holds it, he is called holding various wheels of emanation.' 'Lord' refers to the main deity who resides in the center of all of the above, as it says in the sutra: 'I am in the center of it.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
