Like a woman with a beautiful face, even without iron hooks and ropes, she can use her amorous sidelong glances to entice and bind the hearts of lovers.' This is how it is identified. As the great scholar Shakya Chokden praised Thubpa'i Wangpo (Buddha Shakyamuni), he used special embellishments to praise: 'When the hero (referring to the sun) rises, the lotus of the day blooms, while the water lily of the demoness's face becomes dark and closed.' Also, as the great scholar Konchok Lhundrup praised Dorje Yangchenma (Vajra Saraswati), he used special embellishments to praise: 'Even if the conditions of the cause are incomplete, it can still show a special result, which is a special embellishment.' After identifying this embellishment, in the actual praise, he wrote: 'Yangchenma, you do not rely on weapons and armies, nor do you rely on the strength of your four limbs, but only with courage, intelligence, and wisdom, you conquer the enemies of the three realms.' Twenty-sixth, the Ornament of Similar Association (Mtsungs par sbyor ba'i rgyan), to the thirtieth, the Ornament of Definite Indication (Nges par bstan pa'i rgyan). Twenty-sixth, the Ornament of Similar Association refers to associating the thing one wants to express with something extremely excellent, or with something that is actually dissimilar, in order to achieve the purpose of praise; or associating it with something extremely reprehensible, or with something that is actually dissimilar. For example: 'The Six Ornaments of Jambudvipa (referring to the six Indian Buddhist masters) and you, the king of wise men of the Snow Land (referring to Tibet), are similar in the way you correctly view things, teach, debate, and write.' This is how it is identified. As the great scholar Shakya Chokden praised Thubpa'i Wangpo, he praised in the manner of Similar Association: 'Compassionate you, without holding iron hooks and ropes, with just a compassionate glance, you can entice and control sentient beings.' Also, as the great scholar Konchok Lhundrup praised Dorje Yangchenma, he praised in the manner of Similar Association: 'Even if the basis of the objects is different, if the characteristics are associated similarly, it is called the Ornament of Similar Association.' After identifying this embellishment, in the actual praise, he wrote: 'The bright moon of the autumn night, Indra's brilliant rainbow, and the smiling garland of a hundred-petaled white lotus, as well as the delightful Gandharva (celestial musician) maiden Yangchenma, all similarly attract and bring joy.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

27. The Figure of Speech of Contradiction (འགལ་བའི་རྒྱན།): This refers to showing two contradictory attributes of things coexisting in one thing without conflict. For example: 'The hair grows as white as the peak of a snow mountain, but the face is as black as coal; the wrinkles are as deep as the ocean, but the wealth is as empty as autumn clouds; the heart is as straight as an arrow for achieving existence, but the body is as crooked as rotten wood.' Such statements are rare, but fools like me are very many. This is the understanding of the figure of speech of contradiction. The great Paṇḍita Śākya mchog ldan, in praising Thub pa'i dbang po (自在天), praised through the figure of speech of contradiction: 'Unpleasant words are like angry arrows, the glorious body is like the nectar of peace, also like the glorious lord of the gods.' The great scholar dkon mchog lhun grub, in praising Vajra Saraswati (金刚妙音天女), praised through the figure of speech of contradiction: 'Wherever contradictory things are, showing them coexisting is the figure of speech of contradiction.' After identifying this figure of speech, in the actual praise, it is written: 'Half of the body, hands and feet connected like a net; the white hair between the eyebrows is clear, the eyebrows are black; the full and round breasts, the slender waist, to you who possess such beauty, we are extremely devoted.' 28. The Figure of Speech of Untimely Praise (སྐབས་མིན་བསྟོད་པའི་རྒྱན།): This refers to praising something, although the timing is inappropriate, but in some cases, praise is given for a certain purpose. For example: Someone suffering from thirst and heat, said in the desolate wilderness: 'In a comfortable and cool palace, with a lover who can fulfill all wishes, playing and singing together, enjoying for a long time, how happy!' This is the understanding of the figure of speech of untimely praise. The great Paṇḍita Śākya mchog ldan, in praising Thub pa'i dbang po, praised through the figure of speech of untimely praise: 'Eliminating the desires of others, yet making beings greedy; burning the firewood of beings, yet eliminating the heat of desire.' The great scholar dkon mchog lhun grub, in praising Vajra Saraswati, praised through the figure of speech of untimely praise: 'Untimely praise is praising with untimely desire.' After identifying this figure of speech, in the actual praise, it is written: 'With gorgeous ornaments decorated with various jewels, possessing the beauty of smooth skin and full youth, Saraswati, you...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
