May it spread everywhere! May the victory banner of the teachings be glorious and prosperous! 'This great treatise on poetics called 'Mirror,' the explanation of the thirty-five types of meaning ornaments mentioned therein, this work called 'Necklace of Delightful Blue Lotuses for Enlightening Young Minds,' was written by the King of Dharma of the Three Realms, the accomplished Sonam Wangpo, and the hidden Buddha incarnate, the great Sakya holder of mantras, Drakpa Lodro, the lord of all lineages, inseparable from the sixth Vajradhara, Gyalwa Muschenpo Dorje Chang Sangye Gyaltsen, the incarnate Kunga Dondrup, and so on, the precious lotus feet of countless infallible gurus, were placed on the crown of my head by the Sakya novice, Mahayana yogi, and poet of the snowy land, Ngawang Kunga Sonam Drakpa Gyaltsen Palsangpo. I have thoroughly studied the treatises related to the great poetic work 'Mirror,' and have consulted other special treatises by many qualified scholars that clarify the categories of poetics. In the Indian calendar, the year called 'Raktaksha' (Sanskrit, meaning: Red Eye), in the Chinese calendar, the year called 'Wood Rat,' in the season called 'Vasanta' (Sanskrit), on the second day of the white part of the month called 'Bhaipaasha' (Sanskrit), at the top of the Sakya four-story Ladrang, the source of many qualities and treasures, it was written by the scribe Tashi Dondrup. If there are any faults in it, I pray that the lama and the Three Jewels forgive, and may the activity of this treatise be as vast as the sky! May all the wishes of us, teacher and students, be fulfilled in this life and the next, and may the infallible deities bless us! Auspicious and prosperous! Sarva Mangalam! (Sanskrit, सर्व मङ्गलम्, sarva maṅgalam, All auspiciousness!) This was done by Guru according to the wishes of Khenchen Apel Rinpoche. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
