Lotus (Padma), Utpala, and intermittently Kumuta and Utpala, as well as how to beautifully arrange Padma, jewels, leaves, sprouts, etc., have also been explained. The shape of the bell's mouth is round, some bell mouths are like slightly opened Utpala, some are like blooming Padma, and some are like the mouth of a cow. Here, the bell of the Vajra family is like the mouth of a cow, with two belts on it, and two or one Vajra chain(s) surrounding the middle of the belts. In addition, these chains are also described as wheels, etc., according to the divisions of their respective families. In addition, white, blue, and red aquatic flowers and Utpala are also arranged in the east, etc., within the twelve-finger-wide bell body. In the direction of the letter lam, the three syllables Oṃ, Āḥ, and Hūṃ are closely arranged, and in the center below the navel, how the wisdom nature staff hanging from the sky Vajra should be appropriate. The shape of this staff is also described as octagonal. As it is said in the Vajra Dakini Tantra: 'The central wisdom staff is decorated with eight parts.' In addition, the Vajra Dakini Tantra also says: 'The bell is nine fingers high, decorated with net-like or half-net-like patterns, and the mouth is five fingers wide.' As it is said: 'It possesses all perfect characteristics, the height of nine fingers is clearly visible, and its mouth is five fingers wide, and should not exceed this measurement.' In any case, it should not exceed twenty fingers in height. Thus, for the pure bell as described above, There are many explanations relating to the Trikaya (three bodies), relating to body, speech, and mind, and relating to the purification of the three realms, etc., but due to the large number of words, they are not described here. I have explained in detail in the Vajra Bell Commentary that I wrote earlier how to combine various situations according to the scriptures, please refer to that book. Third, regarding how to arrange the Vajra and Bell in front: Dharma Lord Sakya Pandita said in the 'Debate Victory': 'The Vajra and Bell should also be placed on the left and right, without being reversed.' In addition, in the fire offering ritual of the precious Black Hevajra, it is clearly stated: 'The Vajra is placed on the right of the practitioner, and the Bell is placed on the left.' In addition, the letters on the bell face the practitioner, and the face of Prajñā faces the center of the Vajra, which is the practice of the lineage. The reason for this is also explained in the Tantra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Twenty-eight deities endowed are given to the right hand Vajra, twenty-three deities endowed are given to the left hand bell.' The number of deities mentioned appears completely, and it is also due to arranging them in this way. The deity of Brahma's face appears in the center of the Vajra, thus the Vajra has twenty-eight deities; Vajrasattva of the center appears in Brahma's face, thus the bell has twenty-three deities. Considering this meaning, in the commentaries on the tantras by accomplished masters like Great Bliss, the manner of placing the Vajra and bell seems to have been done as it is. Furthermore, in Smriti's 'Six Aspects of Thatness,' regarding the Vajra and bell of vows, the Vajra has thirty-one deities and the bell has twenty-two deities. It is necessary to understand the situation, the special characteristics, or the reasons. Some, like Buton, say that the bell's Brahma face should face oneself, and the Vajra should be placed to the right of the bell (i.e., one's own left), because these two are skillful means and wisdom. Aryadeva says in 'The Supreme Vajrasattva': 'With both hands, take the Vajra and bell crossed.' What is said is unreasonable, because then the deities of union, male and female, would also need to be arranged on the left and right sides. It would also be unreasonable for some goddesses to hold the khatvanga, which symbolizes skillful means, in their left armpit. In some mandalas, it would also be unreasonable to place Vairochana in the east and his consort Locana in the northeast, because Vairochana is skillful means and Locana is wisdom. Therefore, if it is skillful means and wisdom, it is not necessarily the case that they must be located on the left and right sides. Aryadeva's quote is also not applicable here, because it is in the context of the sixteen offering goddesses, 'drawing the arrow embracing the breasts,' meaning that the hand holding the Vajra and bell, together with the lotus seat, is used to draw the Vajra arrow from below the bell, performing a crossed-hand dance. This is not to show the situation of taking the Vajra and bell crossed in front. Some Jonangpas and others say that the way to place the Vajra and bell is according to Buton, in the context of the five substances of Kalachakra, the Vajra and bell are said to be placed in the north, and oneself faces east towards the west, and one can achieve it by taking the Vajra and bell crossed. What is said is also unreasonable, because that is the occasion for showing the five substances, not the way to place them after picking them up and ringing them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
