The intermediate state, as it is said. The intermediate state indicates that this 'Precious Sutra Collection' (chos dkon mchog) itself is the Three Jewels (chos dkon mchog). Mentioning Manjushri ('jam dpal) in the place of the seven-branch offering is because in the midst of a sea-like retinue, he is the narrator of this sutra. Furthermore, he also promises to explain what kind of virtuous benefits will arise if one performs a certain action towards this sutra. Mentioning Tara (skyabs sgrol) in the place of the seven-branch offering is because in the midst of a sea-like samsara, in order to heal severe illnesses, if one makes offerings to the King of Medicine, one will gain the benefit of life, and it also explains the ritual of how to make offerings. Mentioning Vajrapani (phyag na rdo rje) in the place of the seven-branch offering is because in the midst of a sea-like retinue, he explains the basis of his own secret mantra, the ritual of reciting it, and its benefits. Mentioning Brahma (tshangs pa), Indra (brgya byin), and the Four Great Kings (rgyal po chen po bzhi) in the place of the seven-branch offering is because in front of the Eight Tathagatas (bde bar gshegs pa brgyad), together with Vajrapani, they promise to guard and protect those who uphold the sutras, as well as their own lost dharanis and their benefits. Furthermore, the Eight Tathagatas also command them to guard and protect the sutras. Mentioning the Twelve Yaksha Generals (gnod sbyin gyi sde dpon chen po bcu gnyis) in the place of the seven-branch offering is because in front of the Bhagavan (bcom ldan 'das), they take refuge in the Three Jewels and promise to guard and protect the sutras. Bathing after reciting the mantra is because the rituals of reciting the mantras are specifically extracted. Finally, performing the three acts of dedication (bsngo ba), confession (bzod gsol), and requesting the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to return to their abodes (gshegs gsol) is a supplement to be consistent with other rituals. Explanation of the Meaning of the Ritual Text The third part is the explanation of the meaning of the ritual text, including: a general summary of the meaning to be expressed; explaining the names and words together; and explaining the remaining parts that depend on other texts in order. The first part is: 'Establishing the base, blessing, inviting, and abiding, the support of the seven branches and fourteen, the Eight Buddhas, Dharma, Sangha, and Dharma Protectors.' In this great treatise on ritual compilation, there are twenty-two parts, such as establishing the ritual base, blessing, etc., which can be divided into three types: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. The main practice is further divided into several parts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The five are blessing, inviting, contemplating residence, performing the seven-branch prayer, and bathing by reciting mantras. Blessing is divided into four types: blessing the place, blessing the palace, blessing the seat, and blessing the objects. Inviting is divided into five types: generally inviting the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions; specifically inviting the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha; inviting Bodhisattvas such as Manjushri; inviting Brahma and the Four Great Kings; and inviting the twelve great Yaksha generals. The seven-branch prayer is divided into two types: performing the seven-branch prayer in common for all objects of offering; and performing the seven-branch prayer separately. The objects for performing the seven-branch prayer separately are four: the essence of the Buddha Jewel, the Eight Sugatas; the essence of the Dharma Jewel, the Ratnakuta Sutra; the essence of the Sangha Jewel, the three Bodhisattvas such as Manjushri; the Dharma protectors, Brahma, Ishvara, and the Four Great Kings; and the great Yaksha generals. The second part is 'later', meaning 'after'. 'Hand symbol' means 'to possess'. 'Request' means 'to generate joy oneself'. 'Four assemblies' refers to monks, etc. 'Asking' refers to requesting in the manner of asking. 'Spreading the seat' refers to spreading the seat.
