So! Second, particularly praising the greatness of Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha), including praising the benefits of the name, Manjushri's vow, the teachings to Ananda, Rescue's (Kshitigarbha) prayer, and the Yaksha's vow. First is praising the benefits of the name. Then, the Bhagavan (Buddha) extensively spoke of the benefits of the name of the Tathagata Bhaisajyaguru Vaiduryaprabha (Medicine Master and King of Lapis Lazuli Light), which will be elaborated in the benefits section below. Second is Manjushri's vow. Then, Manjushri Kumara (Youthful Manjushri) reported to the Bhagavan, 'Bhagavan, in the future age, whoever upholds this sutra...' until '...even if it is taken away, it will be returned again.' The Bhagavan promised that for sentient beings who uphold this sutra, etc., he would proclaim the name of Bhaisajyaguru in various ways and also spoke of other benefits. Third is the teaching to Ananda. Then, the Bhagavan asked Ananda, 'Do you believe in the declaration of the qualities of the Tathagata Bhaisajyaguru Vaiduryaprabha?' Ananda replied that he had no doubt or hesitation. Fourth is Rescue's (Kshitigarbha) prayer. At that time, in that assembly, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Rescue (Kshitigarbha) stood up from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and, with palms joined, bowed to the Bhagavan, reporting to the Bhagavan, 'Bhagavan, in the future age, sentient beings will be tormented by various diseases...' until '...for the sake of survival, they will not commit evil deeds. Therefore, sons or daughters of good family with faith should make offerings to that Tathagata.' Then, Ananda asked Rescue how to make offerings, and Rescue replied, 'Ananda, those who wish to be completely liberated from serious illnesses...' until '...when a king or royal family receives empowerment, their complexion, strength, and power will increase.' These are the contents quoted in the sutra ritual. Fifth is the Yaksha's vow. Then, the twelve great Yaksha generals said these words: 'By the power of the Bhagavan, we have heard the name of the Tathagata Bhaisajyaguru Vaiduryaprabha...' etc., these are the contents quoted in the sutra ritual. Third, the manifestation of the seven Tathagatas: At that time, in that assembly, the son of a deva (god)... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When some with little wisdom disbelieve and doubt the distinctions of the praises of the Seven Tathagatas, the Bhagavan abides in the samadhi called 'Cultivating the Buddha-field'. By the power of that samadhi, the earth shakes, and celestial sandalwood powder and rain of flowers fall. The Seven Tathagatas also appear manifestly in Vaishali, seated on lion thrones. The part about reciting the dharani: Then, Manjushri circumambulates those Tathagatas seven times and requests them to explain the dharani. The Eight Tathagatas, in one voice, speak of the Vaiḍūrya dharani, the ritual for reciting it, and its benefits. The part about Vajrapani and others making vows: Then, Vajrapani, Śakra, and the Four Great Kings say: 'Bhagavan, we have heard of the extensive differences in the past aspirations of the Tathagatas,' up to 'they will also obtain samadhi and dharani,' all of which are drawn from the sutra ritual. Then, Vajrapani himself speaks of the dharani, the ritual for reciting it, and the promises to accomplish virtue through it. The part about entrusting the sutra completely: Then, the Tathagatas call upon Śakra, Brahma, and the world protectors and entrust the sutra completely to them. The categories of the sutra's names: Then, Ananda asks: 'What is the name of this Dharma category? How should we hold it?' In response, it is said: 'Hold it as 'Extensive Differences in the Past Aspirations of the Seven Tathagatas,' and also hold it as 'Vowed by the Bodhisattva Vajrapani,' and as 'Purifying All Karmic Obscurations and Fulfilling All Hopes,' and also hold it as 'Vowed by the Twelve Great Yaksha Generals.' Thus, among the four names, the first is named according to the content to be expressed, the third is named according to the benefits, and the other two are named according to the protectors. How to arrange the ritual in the treatise: The second part is how to arrange the ritual in the treatise: Bless the foundation, etc., contemplate the invitation and abiding, and explain the fourteen branches of common and special practices. Except for the Seven Buddhas, the last branch of the others is supplication, most of which are from the sutra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
