Extolling the greatness of the king's merits, the seven Sugatas of the East appear manifestly in this realm, the Vaidurya Dharani of the eight Sugatas is spoken, Vajrapani, Indra, and the four great kings make vows, Brahma and others are entrusted with the entire Sutra, and the various names of the Sutra are declared. First, the Bhagavan spoke of the names of the seven Tathagatas, the distinctions of their aspirations, and the adornments of their Buddha-fields, etc. Initially, the discourse focused on the Tathagata named Auspicious Name: 'Manjushri, to the east, beyond Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges from this Buddha-field, there is a world called 'Unsurpassed by Other Worlds.' There resides the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, named 'King of Glory, Perfectly Proclaimed with an Auspicious Name,' attended by countless billions of Bodhisattvas with long legs, living and teaching the Dharma. From '...will not turn back from enlightenment' is what was taught. These words reveal nine aspects: direction, measure, name of the field, teacher, retinue, adornment of the field, number of aspirations, the inconceivable, and association with the name. The first five are revealed in order up to 'attended by countless billions.' The sixth, 'Manjushri, that Buddha-field of the Tathagata King of Glory, Perfectly Proclaimed with an Auspicious Name, is exceedingly pure, hundreds of thousands of yojanas in extent, as level as the palm of one's hand,' and so forth. The seventh, 'From the time the Tathagata King of Glory, Perfectly Proclaimed with an Auspicious Name, first generated the thought of enlightenment, when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he continuously made eight great aspirations. What are the eight? His first great aspiration is: When I attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment in the future, any sentient beings who are afflicted by various diseases, tormented by epidemics, executioners, sorcery, zombies, and fears, through my power, remembering my name, and reciting my name seven times, all their diseases will be completely pacified.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May it be so! Until the ultimate attainment of Bodhi, may all plagues and demonic forces of sin be eliminated, may there be complete peace. This is the second great aspiration: When I attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi in the future, if there are sentient beings afflicted by blindness, deafness, madness, leprosy, or other severe illnesses, through my power, by remembering my name, and reciting it seven times, may they, until the ultimate attainment of Bodhi, have all their faculties Sanskrit Romanization: paripūrṇa,Chinese literal meaning: completely) complete, and may all suffering and disease be eradicated. Thus, and so on, has been explained. Eighth, Manjushri Bodhisattva elucidated the inconceivable deeds and virtues of the Tathagata Auspiciously Named King Whose Fame Is Perfectly Proclaimed, from the initial generation of Bodhicitta, to the power of aspiration and Samadhi, to maturing sentient beings, to the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and so forth. Ninth, Manjushri Bodhisattva said: Therefore, a son or daughter of good family with faith, a king, a minister, or a householder seeking virtue, should, with a mind free from hatred and afflictions, uphold and recite the name of the Tathagata. If one makes offerings to the Tathagata with utmost reverence, then all sins, karmic obscurations, and diseases will be pacified, all wishes will be fulfilled, and one will never regress from the Bodhi of Buddhahood. Thus it was spoken. Similarly, between the Medicine Buddhas, nine key points were also spoken, and the direction is all the same. The extent reached is from this Buddha-field, passing through Buddha-fields equal to seven, five, seven, eight, nine, and ten Ganges sands. The names of the Buddha-fields are Jeweled, Pervaded with Fragrance, Jeweled Accumulation, Sorrowless, Dharma Banner, Jeweled Ocean Well-Dwelling, and Vaiḍūrya Light. Regarding the retinue, the distinctions of the retinue of the Well-Named Buddha have been described, and others can be compared similarly. In particular, in the case of the Medicine Buddha, there are two Sanskrit Romanization: mukhya,Chinese literal meaning: main) chiefs of the retinue, namely the Bodhisattva who illuminates like the sun and the Bodhisattva who illuminates like the moon. The number of vows made is eight, four, four, four, and fourteen and two. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
