Next are the eleven emanations from the [Southern Silk] Thangka: In the south is White Avalokiteśvara (Avalokiteśvara, the embodiment of compassion), holding a lotus (padma, lotus) in his right hand; to his left is Yellow Mahāmati (Mahāmati, Great Intelligence), holding a lotus adorned with an eye; Maitreya (Maitreya, the future Buddha) is yellow, holding a dragon tree flower adorned with mixed jewels; In the southwest corner is White Pratibhānakūṭa (Pratibhānakūṭa, Accumulation of Eloquence), holding a sword; In the west is White Namanādharin (Namanādharin, Subduer) Arthasiddha (Arthasiddha, Accomplisher of Meaning), holding a sword; Darśanaruchi (Darśanaruchi, Desire for Vision) is white, holding a lotus stalk with a book adorned with jewels on top; Wisdom that Destroys Darkness (Andhakāravināśana, Destroyer of Darkness) is white, holding a book; In the northwest corner is Susamkalpa (Susamkalpa, Good Intention) Bodhisattva (bodhisattva, an enlightened being), holding a vase; In the north is White Merukūṭa (Merukūṭa, Accumulation of Mount Meru), holding a lotus stalk adorned with a crescent moon; Simhanāda (Simhanāda, Lion's Roar) is blue-green, holding a utpala (utpala, blue lotus) adorned with a burning jewel and a vajra (vajra, diamond or thunderbolt); Śikharaśikhara (Śikharaśikhara, Peak of the Summit) holds a jewel ornament; All eleven of these deities hold their respective attributes (ayudha, weapon or symbol) at their hearts with their right hands, and their left hands hold the vajra fist (vajramuṣṭi, clenched fist) resting on their hips. All the bodhisattvas are adorned with jewels and various silks, with a peaceful and elegant demeanor, seated in the bodhisattva's half-lotus posture (ardhaparyanka, half-lotus posture). On the left side of the east gate of the last thangka, is the yaksha (yakṣa, a type of nature spirit) commander Bhīṣaṇa (Bhīṣaṇa, Terrifying), who is yellow, holding a vajra in his right hand; to his right is Black Vajrapāṇi (Vajrapāṇi, Vajra Holder), holding a sword in his right hand; Alankāradharin (Alankāradharin, Holder of Ornaments) is yellow, holding a staff in his right hand; In the northeast corner is Grahadhara (Grahadhara, Holder of Planets) who is blue-green, holding a staff; In the north is Vāyudhara (Vāyudhara, Holder of Wind) who is red, holding a trident (triśūla, trident); Sthānadhara (Sthānadhara, Holder of Place) is smoke-colored, holding a sword; Baladhara (Baladhara, Holder of Power) is red, holding a staff; Pānadhara (Pānadhara, Holder of Drink) is yellow, holding a staff; In the northwest corner is Vacodhara (Vacodhara, Holder of Speech) who is yellow, holding an axe; In the west is Bhūdhara (Bhūdhara, Holder of Earth) who is yellow, holding a rope (pāśa, rope); Caladhara (Caladhara, Holder of Motion) is blue, holding a staff; Pūrana (Pūrana, Fulfillment) is red, holding a wheel (cakra, wheel); All of them hold their respective attributes at their hearts with their right hands, and their left hands hold a mongoose (nakula, mongoose) that spews various jewels; They sit on lotus and silk cushions in the playful posture of a king, adorned with jewels and various silks, with fluttering garments, drooping bellies, and large stomachs, with a fearsome and majestic appearance. These yaksha commanders are all located on the left side. According to the ritual, it is best to place Brahmā (Brahmā, the god of creation) and Indra (Indra, the king of the gods) on the right side, but according to Gyatön and others, the red sun (Sūrya, the sun god) sitting on a chariot should be placed on the right side of the east gate, holding the sun disc (sūryamaṇḍala, mandala of the sun) with both hands; to his left is the white moon (Candra, the moon god) sitting on a swan, holding the moon. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
