May there never be other karmic obscurations! Sarva Mangalam (सर्व मङ्गलम्, auspiciousness for all)! (Prayer) once. According to the wishes of Khenchen Apel Rinpoche, served by Guru. 4-751 For averting plagues, astrological influences, harm from stars, and enemy armies in future times. The second purpose is: that the minds of all the Tathagatas (those who have thus gone) will be comprehended, the minds of all the Bodhisattvas (enlightenment beings) will be understood, the wishes of each of the Tathagatas will be fulfilled, all the Vajradharas (diamond holders) will protect, and all the gods will completely save. The following separately explains the rituals based on Sutra and Tantra: Second, separately explain the rituals of Sutra and Tantra. Including: how to perform the Sutra ritual, how to perform the Tantra ritual, and how to perform them together. First, regarding the Sutra ritual: the blessing of the ground and the palace, according to the text of the ritual. The objects of invitation and prostration are only the seven Tathagatas. The necessity of what needs to be done specifically and the order of practice are according to the text explained from the time of refuge and liberation. The benefits of doing so are: Manjushri (gentle glory) will make the names of the Medicine Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru) resound everywhere, and the twelve Yaksha generals are those who have each vowed to be their protectors. Second, regarding the ritual based on Tantra: 4-752 According to which scripture is it explained, and how to perform the ritual. First, according to some of the words that first appeared in this scripture, and the scriptures of Shakyamuni Buddha (Shakyamuni) and Vajrapani (diamond hand), a total of three scriptures explain. Second, including: blessing the ground and building the palace, then setting up seats there and inviting the deities, and then the order of how to perform the ritual. First, according to the text of the scripture, which is to say that different places must be very clearly divided, and lines need to be drawn. Spreading colored powder means that colored powder needs to be scattered. The Sutra says that there should be stables, walls, and four gates, so a palace with only a single gate is built. The text says that precious walls are piled up around the perimeter, which is to show the boundary of the Buddha-field, not to explain the walls of the palace. Second, setting up the seats: In the center of the palace, eight great lion thrones are arranged for the main deity, the eight Tathagatas, and each volume of this Sutra. Around each throne are the retinue Bodhisattvas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arrange the cushions for the Bodhisattvas to sit on. In front of the eight Tathagatas arranged in a circle, set up the seats for Manjushri and the other three. Around the perimeter of all these seats, on the right side, set up the seats for Brahma and Indra. On the left side, set up the seats for the twelve great Yaksha generals. At the four gates, arrange the seats for the Four Great Kings. Then, the invocation is done according to the scriptures. Here, we do not invoke the jnanasattva, because this requires a separate explanation of the Kriya Tantra, and also because the samayasattva is not generated at the beginning. Although it is not explicitly stated here which of the eight Tathagatas is being referred to, according to the explanation of the ritual mantra, this occurs during the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, so it is best to make him the main deity. In general, one can visualize the palaces of the seven Tathagatas, each surrounded by a common retinue, and then make offerings and so on as they appear in their respective contexts. In this way, the ritual becomes a complete set of seven. However, when creating the structure of a mandala where all eight are gathered together, it is reasonable to make Shakyamuni Buddha, the Chakravartin, the main deity, because in this Buddha-field, the Rupakaya, blessings, and activities of the seven Tathagatas are all the activities of the Shakya King. It is impossible to have the chief deity of the mandala be in the aspect of the supreme Nirmanakaya of another Buddha-field, and then place the master of the teachings of that field, the one with the aspect of the Nirmanakaya, in the retinue of the mandala deities. The meaning of 'one teaching does not have two teachers' is also this. Moreover, in the ritual texts, when reciting the names of the eight Tathagatas, Shakyamuni Buddha is emphasized as the teacher. The sutras also say that the seven Tathagatas, together with their Bodhisattva retinue, are seen to abide in the same manner as the Tathagata Shakyamuni Buddha. Manjushri also said that in the center where the eight Tathagatas are gathered, one should focus on Shakyamuni Buddha for supplication. The Bhagavan said, 'Through the power of the Buddha, we have heard the name of the Medicine Buddha, the King of Lapis Lazuli Light.' Therefore, there is no scriptural or logical basis for explaining that the chief deity of the eight Tathagatas is the Medicine Buddha. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
