It is indeed so. If this special ritual is performed during the festivals of the Teacher Buddha, the merit will be greater. According to Dharma Lord Sakya and Jowo Atisha: 4-786 The eighth day of the last month of the small spring (i.e., the second month of the Tibetan calendar) in the Water Rabbit year (Tibetan calendar), and when the star Gyal is in full bloom, is the day of the Buddha's birth. The eighth day of the last month of the small spring in the Wood Sheep year (Tibetan calendar) is the day of the Buddha's renunciation. The fifteenth day of the last month of the small spring in the Iron Mouse year (Tibetan calendar) is the day of the Buddha's enlightenment. The fourth day of the middle month of summer (i.e., the sixth month of the Tibetan calendar) of the same year is the day of the Buddha's first turning of the Wheel of Dharma. The fifteenth day of the Pleiades in the last month of autumn (i.e., the tenth month of the Tibetan calendar) in the Mouse year (Tibetan calendar) is the day of the Buddha's descent from the heavens. The fifteenth day of the Mrigasira in the last month of winter (i.e., the twelfth month of the Tibetan calendar) in the Mouse year (Tibetan calendar) is the day of the Buddha's manifestation of great miracles. The fifteenth day of the last month of the small spring in the Fire Pig year (Tibetan calendar) is the day of the Buddha's Parinirvana. According to the Kashmiri Pandit and Krowo, the day of the Buddha's descent from the heavens is the twenty-second day of the Chitra in the middle month of autumn (i.e., the eighth month of the Tibetan calendar), and the other times are the same as before. It is said that performing virtuous deeds on these seven special days will bring immeasurable merit. In particular: the day of manifesting miracles, the day of attaining enlightenment, the day of first turning the Wheel of Dharma, and the day of descent from the heavens. The sutras say that performing virtuous deeds on these four great festivals will increase the merit by a million times. 4-787 It is also recorded in the Nirvana Sutra. Therefore, we should strive to engage in virtuous deeds such as offering to the Tathagata and his retinue. With the vast accumulation of the two merits, easily accomplishing perfection, this immaculate ritual of offering to the Tathagata, not defiled by evil self-creation, the wise should use it for the sake of precious merit. With whatever merit I have gained from this ritual, may all the instigators and all sentient beings, eliminate all obstacles on the path, and attain the supreme state of enlightenment of the mighty Buddha. The meaning of this passage is: although this ritual is very popular now, seeing that very few people actually do it according to the intention of the ritual, with the intention of benefiting these people, the Shakya Bhikshu Kunga Sangpo carefully studied the Eight Thousand Verses and the texts of the ritual and compiled this text, and the scribe is Bhikshu Sonam Rinchen. These words have shown the current practice of the ritual. Here it is said: Superior to others, the wonderful Tathagata deities, the wonderful explanation of the ritual of offering, the mantra holder Vajra residing in Sakya... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May it be virtuous! Composed by Ngagwang Kunga Sonam. Through the power of virtue, represented by this merit, may all the sins and obscurations accumulated by myself and other beings in the three times, Be purified, and may all our wishes for this life and the next be fulfilled as we desire. May we have long lives, be free from illness, have clear senses, and may our activities for the teachings reach their culmination. Immediately after this life, may we all be born in pure lands. In those lands, may we swiftly traverse the grounds and paths in an instant, Manifesting the fruit, and until the end of samsara, may we expand the teachings, both generally and specifically, through emanations that tame beings according to their needs. May we realize the practice that pleases the Victorious Ones, Being skilled in the play of clarity and emptiness, the profound key of dependent arising, where appearance is unceasing, and also being liberated from all expressions of the Dharmadhatu. This explanation of the meaning of the ritual for offering to the Medicine Buddhas and their retinue, Entitled 'The Guide Who Leads All Beings to the Pure Land: The Well-Spoken Eye of Light, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel,' was written by Sakyapa Chöme Ngagwang Kunga Sonam, Who takes the dust of the feet of many venerable teachers upon his head, including the holy incarnation, the lamp of the teachings in this degenerate age, the mantra-holder Chökyi Gyalpo Ngagwang Kunga Rinchen's lineage, The holy regent of the Victorious Ones, the accomplished master Jamyang Sonam Wangpo, the father, the treasure revealer, the hidden saint Ngagchang Drakpa Lodrö, and the embodiment of all the Victorious Ones of the three times, Jetsun Muspa Chenpo Sangye Gyaltsen. Before the venerable Tulku Lonas Sichen Kunga Dhondup, the guide of this degenerate age, I spoke about the extensive differences in the past aspirations of the Seven Tathagatas, the Mahayana Sutra in Eight Hundred Sections, and the ritual composed by Khenpo Zhiwa Tso (Shantarakshita). Relying on the kindness of the teachings of this tradition, I have developed an unwavering faith in this direction. A-bya-ya-wa (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:不退转), meaning inexhaustible, in the year of the Fire Male Dog, On the third day of the waxing red moon of the month of Tha-skar, in the clear light of the fourth-story palace of Sakya, the scribe, Dongagpa Sonam Dhonchen, who is excellent in the art of writing and the science of life, quickly completed this. May this also cause all the wishes of us, teachers and students, to be fulfilled in this life and the next! May it be auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
