If I were asked why these holy beings are invited, it is because the Seven Tathagatas are the main teaching objects of this sutra and the main deities of the mandala. Inviting Shakyamuni Buddha is because it is mentioned at the beginning of this sutra that the Eight Tathagatas abide in one way and bless the meaning of this sutra. If one were to place him among the holy beings of the mandala simply because he is the speaker of this sutra, then the reason would be wrong. Inviting Manjushri and others is also for the same reason. If one were to place them in the mandala simply because they are the questioners and protectors of this sutra, then the reason would also be wrong. Second, making seven prostrations to the Seven Tathagatas and offering with seven offerings means that forty-nine prostrations and offerings are complete. Its necessity will be explained at the time of refuge and liberation. For the remaining holy beings, a slight arrangement can be made according to the previous power, but detailed explanation is difficult. Third, prayer and attainment of accomplishment should be carried out according to the instructions of the scriptures. Third, why practice this dharma? There are two purposes. First, it is to avert leprosy, harm from planets and constellations, and enemy armies in future lives. The second purpose is to receive the compassionate attention of all Tathagatas, to be remembered by all Bodhisattvas, to accomplish purposes that are in accordance with the wishes of each Tathagata, to be protected by all Vajradharas, and to be completely rescued by the gods. The following separately explains the rituals based on Sutra and Tantra. Second, the rituals of Sutra and Tantra are explained separately. Including how to perform the Sutra ritual, how to perform the Tantra ritual, and how to perform them together. First, regarding the Sutra ritual, blessing the ground and palace should be carried out according to the instructions of the ritual text. The objects of invitation and prostration are only the Seven Tathagatas. The special things to do and the order of how to practice should be carried out according to the instructions of the scriptures given at the time of refuge and liberation. The benefit of doing so is that Manjushri will proclaim the names of the Medicine Buddha, and each will promise to be their protector, namely the Twelve Yaksha Generals. Second, regarding the ritual based on Tantra: Including the textual basis and how to perform the ritual. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The initial words of this treatise, and the three treatise sections from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha and Vajrapani, have been explained. The second part is: how to bless the ground and establish the palace, then set up seats within it and invite the deities, and then the order of how to perform the rituals. First: As the treatise states, it is necessary to meticulously divide the different locations, which means drawing lines is required. Scattering colored powder means that colored powder offerings are required. The Sutra states that there should be stables, walls, and four gates, which means that a single-gated palace is constructed. The occurrence of stacking precious walls refers to the boundary of the Buddha-field, not the explanation of the palace's walls. Second, setting up the seats: In the center of the palace, eight Tathagatas (Tathāgata: a term for the Buddha) are arranged, along with each volume of this Sutra, and eight great lion thrones are placed. Around each throne, cushions are laid out for the Bodhisattva retinue to sit. In front of the eight Tathagatas arranged in a row, the seats for Manjushri and the other three are set up. Around all of these, on the right side, the seats for Brahma and Indra are set up, and on the left side, the seats for the twelve great Yaksha generals are set up. At the four gates, the seats for the four Great Kings are set up. Then comes the invitation, which is consistent with what is stated in the treatise. Here, it is not the wisdom deity that is invited, because this requires a separate explanation of the Action Tantra, and there is no generation of the commitment deity at the beginning. Although it is not explicitly stated which of the eight Tathagatas is being referred to here, since this ritual is explained in the manner of mantra, and this occurred during the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, it is best to make him the main deity. In general, generating each of the seven Tathagatas separately, each surrounded by a common retinue, along with the support such as the palace, and then making offerings etc. as they occur in their respective contexts, it becomes clear that there are seven complete rituals. But in the mandala where all eight gather together, it is reasonable to have the Chakravartin Shakyamuni Buddha as the main deity, because in this realm, the form body, blessings, and activities of the seven Tathagatas are all the activities of the Shakya King. The mandala of the supreme emanation body of other realms --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
