Homage to the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, Suparikirtitanamasri Raja (King of Auspicious Fame)! Recite this seven or twenty-one times, and connect it to the teacher Shakyamuni. Then, homage to the 'Sutra of the Excellent Qualities of the Seven Buddhas'! Homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Arya Manjushri Kumara! Homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Arya Tara! Homage to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vajrapani! Homage to Brahma, Indra, the Four Great Kings, and all the virtuous friends who protect the Dharma! Homage to each of the twelve great Yaksha generals, who possess power and majesty, along with their retinue of seven hundred thousand Yakshas! Recite the above once. Then recite up to 'Please listen to the assembly of noble ones'. Then, recite: 'Whatever benefits and aspirations are proclaimed by the names of the Seven Buddhas, may I easily accomplish them all, and may I also be reborn in pure lands. May the blessings of the benefits spoken by the teacher Shakyamuni in the sutras be bestowed. May the truth of the unchanging words of the Sugatas manifest to me. Manjushri, Tara, Vajrapani, and the assembly of Yakshas such as Brahma, may all the promised goodness be accomplished for me both immediately and in the long term.' If one practices in this way, without interruption every day, then the benefits mentioned earlier will undoubtedly come without hesitation. Therefore, those who desire virtue should strive for this profound essence, which requires little effort and has great significance. The meaning of the sutra ritual has been explained in detail above. These contents are mainly based on 'The Ornament of the Ocean of Aspirations of the Seven Buddhas,' a commentary on the Medicine Buddha Sutra ritual written by the wise Tseten Sanglun, but there are also some aspects that deserve discussion. However, for the sake of brevity, they are temporarily set aside. The above elucidates the excellent explanations derived from it. The second part elucidates the excellent explanations derived from it. This ritual is very necessary. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 'The Drum Sound of the Undying Treasury,' which is a commentary on the sutra and ritual treatises composed by the great scholar Śākya mchog ldan, it states: Here is a treatise that extensively explains the ritual of offering to the eight Sugatas (Tathāgata) and their retinues. 4-744 This treatise, composed by the great Bodhisattva Śāntarakṣita, who is difficult to name, will be explained in three aspects: First, a general presentation of the common framework; second, a separate explanation of the rituals based on Sutra and Mantra; third, the order of how to combine Sutra and Tantra. First, a general presentation of the common framework. Firstly, who is the person who relies on and practices? How does one practice the framework of the ritual? Why does one practice? The first point is: possessing the vows of refuge, meditating on the four immeasurables and the samādhi of emptiness, and generating the supreme Bodhicitta. Among these, there are two divisions: householders and renunciates. If one is a householder, one should take the eight-precept vows. Even if the second type of person does not have these vows, and is just an ordinary person, there is no contradiction in taking the vows of purification. The second point is: generating the palace and blessing the ground, inviting the eight Sugatas and their retinues, performing prostrations and offerings, etc., supplicating for desired aims and obtaining siddhis. The first point is: just like the arrangement of the base and palace, etc., that exist in a pure land, 4-745 the practitioner generates the aspiration for the place where they are sitting to appear. This is a method of practice, but it is not necessary to practice by drawing lines and applying colors, because in that method, the generation of the palace does not occur through aspiration. Merely reciting the mantras describing the four doors, horse-head projections, nets, and half-nets is not sufficient, because it is also explained that way in the Vinaya's section on dwelling places. Here, the method of invitation is not to generate the Samaya-sattva and then infuse it with the Jñāna-sattva, but simply to generate a single seat in the palace and then invite the form bodies of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and request them to be seated. Although there are also methods of placing painted images and cloth paintings in front and inviting them, such methods are not necessary components of this tradition, and the ritual explained from the section on taking refuge does not mention images of the Buddhas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
