At the edge of the charnel ground lake, surrounded by flames, there is a red rock that resembles a standing Rakshasa. Guru Padmasambhava practiced there, single-mindedly contemplating the profound secret mantra yoga. Once, as night fell, emanations of the Yaksha Tsemar (rTse dmar), seven large wolves with blood-red manes, appeared. They howled and performed various magical displays to obstruct the Guru. Guru Padmasambhava entered the samadhi of Pal Hayagriva, raised the vajra in his right hand, and made a threatening gesture. The seven wolves transformed into seven horsemen, prostrated to the Guru, and begged for forgiveness. At that time, the Guru said: 'Who are you? What are your names?' They replied: 'I am the Yaksha King Tsemar. In the past, I received the empowerment of Pal Hayagriva and vowed to be a protector of the teachings through samaya (dam tshig). My name is known as Yaksha Tsemar in India, and as Thugden Lhatsen (mThu ldan lha btsan) in Tibet.' The Guru then asked: 'Where is your abode? Tell me of your father, mother, and life-force essence.' They replied: 'My abode is in this sacred land of India, and especially in Tsang's Sangphug (gSang phug). My father is the great Mu rje Legpa, and my mother is the daughter of the Tsen King Zlawa Thökar (Zla ba thod dkar), named Yaksha Zangdrenma (Gnod sbyin zangs 'dren ma). My life-force essence is the heart-essence tantra of the Red Razor (sPugri dmar po) King, spoken by the Bhagavan Pal Hayagriva in the past, consisting of seven chapters, compiled by the Dakini Vajra Padmasambhava. In the time when the Buddha was present, this tantra was placed inside a turquoise amulet box and hidden as a treasure in the yellow crevice of this red rock that resembles a standing Rakshasa.' Therefore, they requested the Guru to take this tantra from the treasure and enjoy the instructions contained within, promising to become protectors of the Buddha's teachings. Guru Padmasambhava was very pleased and bestowed upon them the vast empowerment of the wisdom mandala, giving them the secret name Kunkyab Dorje Drakpo Tsal (Kun khyab rdo rje drag po rtsal). After that, the Guru began to practice the seven chapters of the Red Razor heart-essence tantra.

The possessor of qualities (bdag nyid can), having taken from the treasure, appointed this Yaksha King (gNod sbyin rgyal po) as the Dharma protector of the master and consecrated him. Later, when the incarnate king Trisong Detsen (Khri srong lde'u btsan) invited the precious master Padmasambhava (Padma 'byung gnas) to Tibet, the emanation of the Yaksha, the seven horses (rta pa bdun), greeted him from Ngari Palthang (mNga' ris dpal thang), and until he arrived at Samye Monastery (bSam yas), they undertook the task of providing various conveniences such as welcoming. At that time, the master said with delight: 'The place where the Yaksha King resides must be in this very land.' The master considered the lineage and methods of practice of the Yaksha to be extremely secret and did not transmit them to anyone, but hid them in the neck of the strong King Tsa-gtum (gTsang sra gtum) Khyen Misang (sPyan mi bzang). Later, the teacher of Rab Ngari (rab mNga' ris), Dawa Dorje (zla ba rdo rje), found the treasure catalog and took it out, Headaches and bloody butter appeared in the upper part, lasting for nine days, almost reaching the village, so a grand gathering was held, and many rituals to fulfill the vows were performed, and the illness was relieved. Then, the master Dawa Dorje left the yellow paper (shog ser) blank, copied it, offered a red female goat, two servings of tea food, a flag, and asked his nephew Drungle (dBon po drung las), and so on, passed down from generation to generation. These histories are that when we ourselves went to U-Tsang (dBus phyogs) for pilgrimage at the age of twenty-three, we discovered an ancient version of the heart essence tantra of the Yaksha King Vajrakilaya (sPu gri dmar po) in Samye Monastery, which the Dharma protector himself manifested miraculously and effortlessly obtained, and recorded it as it was written at the end of the book, so I hope that the sons of lineage and Dharma and other wise followers will not have any doubts. The following is a summary of the essence of these contents into verses: In the meantime, Padmasambhava, in the great charnel ground (dur khrod chen po me 'bar) of India, in front of the precipitous Flaming Mountain (gNya' ri dmar nag zur gsum), on the edge of the boiling Rakshasa Lake (srin mtsho khol ma) of fire tongues, in the practice place of the red rock Rakshasa (brag dmar srin po) like a demon, the master practiced with single-minded devotion. At that time, one evening, seven blood-haired jackals (spyang khyi khrag gi ral can bdun) appeared, howling and beginning to harm Padmasambhava, at this time, the master, with the incomparably firm Hayagriva (rta mgrin rgyal po) samadhi, raised the vajra in his right hand, transforming those beasts into seven men riding steeds, and repented to the master. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
