The situation was such that the Yidam (tutelary deity) was not bound, and various harms were constantly arising. In order to subdue the mind, the master Padmasambhava entered into the Samadhi of subduing the Naga. The builders Heshang Mahayana and Hor Pakshe Karma and others completed the construction. The carpenters Gyanak Langtso He from China and Bha Ru from Nepal and others were decorating the roof. King Trisong Detsen (Shing-ga-na) was present, and someone said, 'The wood is not enough.' The king was very alarmed and thought, 'Where can I find so much wood?' The king was very frightened. At this time, the Naga of Butsal found the wood through supernatural powers and created obstacles for the king, transforming into a white man on a white horse and coming to the king, saying, 'Your Majesty, I can provide the wood needed for Samye Monastery, but I ask to interpret the intention of Master Padmasambhava.' The king thought this must be an accomplishment and agreed. The man said, 'Then I will not allow the king to interpret the master's intention, we must make a vow.' So the king made a vow. After that, the king came to the Ge-gong cave of Phying-phu and saw Master Padmasambhava. However, he did not see the body of Master Padmasambhava, but only saw a huge and terrifying Garuda. The king said, 'Respected Master, please allow me to interpret your intention.' But Master Padmasambhava did not agree. The king said again, 'Respected Master, please allow me to interpret your intention, I want great accomplishments.' At this time, Master Padmasambhava allowed him to interpret the intention. The king told the master about the previous events, and Master Padmasambhava said, 'Respected King, the wood for the temple will come naturally. This Naga of mine, although both body and speech are bound, its Yidam is not bound, so I want to bind it. Now is the time of the five degenerations, the earth will be controlled by the Nagas, and eighteen kinds of leprosy will appear. Eventually, all the houses of the people will be occupied by the Nagas, and everything will become terrible. The whole earth will be occupied and controlled by the underground Nagas.' After that, the king went down the mountain, and the Nagas transported the wood in the river to Samye Monastery, making it pitch black. That year, the king was twenty-one years old and began to lay the foundation for construction. In the year of the Horse, the islands of the three lineages, the twelve continents, and especially the sixteen continents including the four great continents, were built according to the king's wishes. The name of the temple was also named 'Glorious Samye Monastery Spontaneously Accomplished'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How were the wonderful supports placed in those places? And how were the guardians entrusted separately? At the time when glorious Samye was being built, the king himself wondered how the statues should be built in these temples. That night, a white man appeared in the king's dream and said, 'Why are you making Buddha statues?' The king replied, 'I will ask the Khenpo (abbot) and then do it.' The white man said, 'This land has been blessed by Jomo Dolma (Tara). In the past, on the top of Haspo Ri, the Bhagavan (Blessed One) principal and his retinue were playing. Invite them and meditate, and Jambudvipa (the world) will have great blessings.' The king asked, 'Where are they? Please show me.' The man said, 'They are in the place where the red cow makes a mooing sound.' So, the king took the minister Kampa as an attendant and went to the top of Haspo Ri. They saw about thirteen Bhagavan principals and their retinue playing on the top of the mountain. The king was very happy and said 'He he,' and then woke up. The next morning, he told the Khenpo about the dream. The Khenpo said, 'That is very good. Let's go to the place where you dreamed.' So, they took Dong Sher as a guide, and five royal patrons went to the top of Haspo Ri. The Khenpo asked, 'King, where were you standing when you had the dream last night?' The king replied, 'I was standing here last night.' He rubbed his foot on the sand, and from under a stone the size of a bird's beak, a large Bodhi statue appeared, without any marks of chisels, with bright eyes and a black topknot. The king was very happy and prepared reins and vehicles, and placed the Bodhi statue on the vehicle. Immediately, the earth shook in six ways. Then, when they reached the threshold of the east gate, the earth shook in six ways again. Then, when it was placed on the throne in the clean room made of sandalwood in the lower room of the U-Tse (main temple) Rigsum Gonpo (Three Protectors), the earth shook in six ways again. Then, the king offered his golden rosary and other sacred objects to the Shakyamuni Buddha statue. After that, the king's Khenpo pointed to the statue and said: The Khenpo said, 'This statue is too small compared to your temple.' So, they decorated it with auspicious grass, covered it with cloth, and then applied seven layers of gold mud, and built a principal Great Bodhi statue in the Tibetan style, located on the right row of the south side, Vairochana (Nampar Nangdze). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
