NDC15 0010.The Key to Clarity for the Practice of the Three Roots Secret Heart Drop.g2.0f

Just as one cannot transcend the great ocean, all vehicles and tenets gradually converge and incline towards the view of the Great Perfection of Clear Light. Ultimately, it is determined that there is no transcendence beyond the realm of the Great Perfection of Clear Light, which is the aspiration of all wise individuals, the focus of all accomplished beings, and the path of all Sugatas of the three times. From the depths of one's heart, a firm conviction arises, generating diligence and strength in practice. Therefore, refining one's understanding through study and contemplation is the key to the path. In particular, regarding the actual practice of the path, one must avoid confusion about how to decide with view, experience with meditation, enhance with conduct, and manifest with result. Among these, the meaning of how the view is established is meditation, and one should not examine whether the view and meditation are consistent. If the view looks in one way and the meditation meditates in another way, then the view and meditation will be separated. Moreover, the established view will become meaningless, because the view is for the sake of meditation, but the practitioner does not meditate on it. This also contradicts the analogy, just like the eyes looking east while the feet step west. Therefore, here in Vajrayana, contemplating the outer and inner worlds, appearances, sounds, and mind as the play of deities, mantras, and wisdom is due to the power of view. Just as the Shravakas meditate on impermanence, selflessness, etc., the Mahayanists meditate on the luminosity of awareness free from grasping and being grasped, and meditate on emptiness endowed with all supreme aspects without attachment, all of these are established according to the view. If it is thought that knowing the nature of conventional reality cannot be a view, then seeing dependent origination will also not be able to become the view of Madhyamaka. Therefore, here, in the manner of Anuttarayoga, in order to eliminate the obscurations of realization that conceal the great mandala of self-existing spontaneous accomplishment, before entering the practice of the two stages of yoga, one must thoroughly establish appearance and existence as the great purity and equality with unique reasons. If one does not establish it in this way, even if one strives on the path, it is like shooting an arrow without seeing the target. The Lamrim says: Without seeing the inconceivable, entering the non-conceptual mandala.

What should be done? That foolish, ignorant, yet mindful one goes to the great city of the blind. Therefore, with ignorance as the cataract on the eye, and the blunt vajra as the surgeon, through joyful attainment, past deeds, and hearing the scriptures, one must open the eye and see the mandala. Thus it is said. Among these, the nature of the support and the supported, encompassed by the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, when measured from the aspect of appearance, is perfected as the wheel of the five mundane bodies; when measured from the aspect of emptiness, it is spontaneously accomplished as the essence of the seven treasures of the ultimate Dharmakaya; and when measured from the aspect of union, the supreme truth is inseparable, beyond the realm of mind, and is primordially enlightened as the essence of the union of the magical net. As it is said in the Glorious Secret Essence Tantra: Emaho! The limbs of the vajra aggregates are known as the five perfect Buddhas. All the many sense bases and elements are the mandala of the Bodhisattvas themselves. Earth, water, eye, and Mamaki, fire, wind, white-clad Tara, and the sovereign mother of the sphere of space. The three realms are primordially enlightened Buddhafields. All phenomena without exception are not other than the Buddhas themselves. The Dharma that is other than the Buddhas is not found by the Buddhas themselves. Thus it is said. The reason for establishing the aggregates and so forth as the mandala of the Victorious Ones is also explained by the omniscient Rongzompa the Great: Some say that because in the ultimate sense there is no inherent existence, they are Buddhas, and because in the conventional sense they are the cause of becoming Buddhas, they are established as Buddhas. The characteristics of things are true as impure appearances. This should not be established in this way. Even in the conventional sense alone, it should be established that the very nature of what merely appears as aggregates is the nature of the perfectly pure Buddhafields of countless Buddhas. Moreover, these two appearances, in relation to each other, are established as true like pure appearances. Thus it is said, and it is necessary to understand. Among these, although the proponents of the reasoning school generally believe that the two truths are inseparable, they discriminate between samsara and nirvana as good and bad from the aspect of conventional truth and engage in acceptance and rejection. However, in this fruition vehicle, even in the conventional sense, one views it as great equality, and therefore the difference is great. As it is said in the Stages of the Path: Among the unsurpassable vehicles, in the ultimate sense
