Seeing this, please receive the empowerment and protect the vows. I prostrate and pray to all. Thus it is said. Such a person who abides in the vows should extend the time of reliance on the Vajra Master for years and months, and for the generation and completion stages and their branches that are to be practiced, cut off the superimpositions with hearing and thinking, and determine the ultimate of the oral instructions. As it is said in "Ornament Seven Liberation": First, with the wisdom of listening, generate hearing in the lineage of words. Then, with the wisdom of thinking, learn to connect words and meanings. And as it is said in the Secret Essence Tantra: For as many kalpas as there are dust motes in the fields, those with eyes of wisdom who are well-trained and well-established should hold them. Thus, this great secret vehicle is the realm of activity of sharp faculties, so not only is hearing and thinking necessary, but also without hearing and thinking, one cannot practice oneself, nor can one show others the unerring path, nor can one know the means of accomplishing perfect accomplishments, so one must strive to generate the wisdom of hearing and thinking. In the commentary on the Kalachakra, the Garland of Pearls, it is also said: Without intelligence there is no hearing, without hearing there is no thinking, without dualistic yoga, and without yoga there is no accomplishment. Thus it is said. If a person who has cut off superimpositions by hearing abandons doubt and strives to practice, then all the supreme and common accomplishments are like being in the palm of one's hand. As it is said in the commentary on the Five Stages, Meaningful Clarity: Perfect hearing is wisdom, and if there are both thinking and hearing, then one can practice well, and from that one obtains unsurpassed accomplishment. After thinking like this with intelligence, one who always strives by first striving for the meaning of hearing, will obtain accomplishment well in his hands. If someone doubts the words, how will he realize the meaning? Thus it is said. Some say that meditating single-mindedly is the most important thing, that hearing is just an empty sound of words, and that talking is like a water bubble and has no meaning, and then they themselves spend their lives in foolish meditation, and they say that to others as well, which is deceiving beginners and straying from the path of omniscience.

Therefore, to regard the secret mantra of the disturbing demon as true, let alone hold onto it, one should not even hear of it. As it is said in the "Treasury of Good Sayings": "If one only meditates, there is no need for listening." Only a foolish person with a narrow mind would say this. Meditating without listening, even if one tries hard, is just the practice of animals. This infallible cause and effect is the characteristic of the omniscient. If one could become omniscient without learning, then where is the truth in cause and effect? Meditation without listening, even if it succeeds temporarily, will quickly be destroyed. Even if gold and silver are well melted, if they are separated from fire, they will become hard. Therefore, one must strive to listen and contemplate. The objects of listening and contemplation are, in general, all the three baskets and the four tantras, and the treatises of the two great chariots of India and their followers, which have become the standard for explaining their meaning. One must abandon the laziness of thinking that one cannot understand these treatises and the sloth of despising oneself, and strive as much as one can. At the very least, one must know the key points of the generation stage and completion stage of one's own tradition without reversing them. In order to understand these, one must not shorten the gaze of wisdom and study the glorious Guhyagarbha Tantra, its commentaries and branches, and the immaculate collected works of the Omniscient Dharma King (Longchenpa). Furthermore, for the treatises of the wise and accomplished masters of Sakya and Gelug, such as the great Omniscient Tsongkhapa and Jamyang Kunga Gyaltsen, one must abandon the biased wrong view of sectarianism, expand the mind of pure vision, and engage in unbiased listening and contemplation. In this way, one can cut off superimposition and clinging to truth, understand the reality of all schools, integrate all the teachings into the practice of one person, generate unwavering certainty in one's own tradition's treatises and instructions, and only those who, through the kindness of Orgyen Vajradhara, Panchen Vimalamitra, King-Minister Bodhisattva, etc., can understand and hold the immaculate tradition of the Early Translation School, can become the sole practitioner, which is not available to others. Just as all the rivers and streams of Jambudvipa gradually flow into the great ocean, and ultimately merge into the ocean.
