Therefore, one cannot teach the Dharma or emanate in other places except in their own respective regions. Because the virtuous support of a human body, which practices in the realm of Dharma, is particularly excellent, emanations and the vehicles of Dharma are also particularly excellent. Therefore, obtaining a human body is extremely difficult. As stated in the Sutra of Fully Arranged Qualities: "Having escaped from the states of no leisure, this human body adorned with leisure and endowment is extremely difficult to obtain." And as stated in the Abhidharma: "Hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals, barbarians, long-lived gods, wrong views, absence of Buddhas, and mutes—these eight are the states of no leisure." Thus, having turned away from the eight cities of suffering and the eight states of no leisure, and possessing the fortune to engage in the Dharma, this body endowed with ten endowments is extremely difficult to find. The ten endowments are: As stated in the Earth-Essence Ten-Wheeled Sutra: "To be born as a human, to be born in a central land, to have complete faculties, to have good karmic results, to have faith in the teachings, to have a Buddha appear, to have the Dharma teachings remain, to enter the vehicle, and to be completely seized by compassion." And as stated in the White Lotus Sutra: "To be born as a human is difficult to obtain, the appearance of a Buddha is also difficult to obtain, leisure and endowment are also difficult to obtain, aspiration for virtuous Dharma is also difficult to obtain, and a correct aspiration is also difficult to obtain." And so forth, at the time of obtaining such a body, which is widely and correctly praised, one should repeatedly generate joy in the support for practicing the Dharma properly and in a virtuous friend, and take it onto the path. At times, one should also meditate in this way: Residing alone in a secluded place, on a comfortable seat, with the right leg in a half-lotus posture, propped up by the right hand on the ground. Lowering the left knee, with the elbow of the right hand propped on the knee, supporting the cheek. Covering the left knee with the left hand, assuming a posture of sorrow. The focus is on all directions being vast and expansive, with countless sentient beings of the three lower realms tormented by their respective sufferings, crying and wailing.
