The syllable ཧཱུྃ་ is emitted, and one ཧཱུྃ་ emerges, moving with partiality, like an insect crawling, reaching its own houses, homeland, and then going to the various places it experiences. At times, all the ཧཱུྃ་ syllables stay in a resting posture. Finally, the ཧཱུྃ་ syllables think of going to a valley, where the ridge faces east, the valley faces west, causing worry, causing depression, and a flood is overflowing. In this thought, the ཧཱུྃ་ syllables are recited in a long and melodious tone. Afterwards, it is also acceptable to gather the ཧཱུྃ་ syllables back to their original place. Third, the preliminary practice of the mind: First, cut off the root; in the middle, search for flaws; finally, examine the nature of reality. Among these three, the first is cutting off the root: Examine which of your body, speech, and mind is the main actor of all actions, such as feelings of happiness and suffering, and the acceptance and rejection of good and bad. Recognizing that the mind is the main one is like recognizing a thief. Searching for flaws: Examine whether your mind and its object appearance are the same or different. For this, are the body, speech, and mind the same or different? If they are the same, then the mind should also be seen and heard like the body and speech; if it is like the mind, then the body and speech should also not be seen and heard. If they are different, then the body is an indivisible particle, speech is a traceless disappearance, and the mind is like a bird flying away without a trace. When they disappear, are they the same or different? If examined, because no connection is established, it is neither the same nor different. In this way, the three aggregates of neither two nor non-two are also simultaneously excluded. Therefore, there is not the slightest establishment of sameness and difference. Similarly, for external forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures, and the internal mind, when the mind clings, examine whether the appearance of the object being grasped and the consciousness that grasps are the same or different. Realize that objects are without inherent existence and depend on dependent origination, thereby cutting off the root of the grasper and the grasped, destroying the walls of dualistic clinging, extinguishing the appearance of self and other, pacifying the delusion of enemies and friends, and dispersing the clouds of affirmation and negation, reaching a state like the sky of Dharma nature. Third, examining the nature of reality: In a secluded place, let go of the activities of body, speech, and mind, and in a natural state, this mind, which is the planner of both samsara and nirvana, this clear, active, and vibrant thing, examine its place of origin, place of dwelling, and place of cessation. First is the place of origin: From where does the mind arise? When cutting off the root, one's own body, possessions, enemies, friends, etc., become the objects of the three poisons.

For relatives, seek the place of attachment, the object of attachment, and the one who causes attachment; for enemies, seek the place of hatred, the object of hatred, and the one who causes hatred; for those in between, seek the place of equanimity, the object of equanimity, and the one who causes equanimity, as well as their forms and the five objects of desire. Taking humans as an example, make the six faculties, the five aggregates, the eighteen elements, and the twelve sources, etc., the objects of recollection, and even if the thought "Is this it?" arises, if you examine it carefully, you will not find it elsewhere, but you will be certain that it came from your mother in this life. Even so, from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, searching each tiny part, you will not find it. If mind arises from mind, then in the same instant, mind must be held as two parts, but this is unbearable to reason, therefore, the non-arising of mind has been established, and the end of the great primordial Dharmakaya, free from mind, has been realized. Secondly, there is no intermediate dwelling place: the external container world and the internal sentient beings, whether external, internal, or intermediate, especially searching from one's own body, cannot be found, and if mind dwells in mind, then there must be both a dwelling place and a dweller, because it cannot be determined, therefore, the mind-essence without a dwelling place is the great Sambhogakaya, free from foundation, clear and pure, and the intention of the natural state of Dharmata has been realized. Thirdly, there is no final cessation: after the separation of body and mind, it is impossible to determine where the mind ceases, whether in samsara or nirvana. If you think that it has completely disappeared like a candle being extinguished, then the experience of happiness and suffering in the six realms is an obvious fact in the mind. Then, if you examine whether there is color, shape, or essence that can be determined, because it cannot be described as "the color is white and the shape is round," it is emptiness when appearing, appearance when empty, and clear without basis or root when luminous. It cannot be expressed in words, it is beyond the realm of mind, the present awareness is bright. This clear and distinct state is precisely the ordinary awareness or the way of abiding of innate co-emergent wisdom, or the primordial purity, free from the three stages of arising, dwelling, and ceasing, which is emptiness, therefore, all thoughts of the eight worldly dharmas are regarded as illusory horses and cattle or dreamlike appearances, like rainbows in the sky, pure from the beginning, and after making this determination, in the state of equipoise, whatever good or bad thoughts arise, look nakedly at their nature, and like a snake's knot, it will unravel by itself, thus mixing equipoise and post-equipoise, very good!
