If there is growth, it will also increase by meditating in dreams, because there is no difference between dreams and daytime. So it is said. When engaging in eating, also remember the Three Jewels, divide the food into four parts, offer one part, leave one part for those who come suddenly, give one part as torma to the son of a robber, etc., and eat one part yourself. Or, in the Compendium of Practices, it says: Food should be divided into four parts: first, offer pure food to the gods, then give torma extensively to the Dharma protectors and guardians, and give the remainder of what you have eaten and drunk to all beings. So it is said. When eating, also enjoy it according to the ways of Sutra and Tantra, and dedicate the food. That is, one part of the body's four parts should be empty, two parts food, and one part drink, as it says in the Eight Limbs: Two parts of the stomach are for food, one part is considered for drink, and the fourth part should be properly reserved for the places of wind and so on. Like that. Furthermore, one should act as it is said in the Sutra of the Pure Realm of the Great Vaipulya: When a Bodhisattva enters a room, he should generate the mind that all sentient beings may attain the city of liberation. When sleeping, may he attain the Dharmakaya of the Buddha. When dreaming, may he realize all dharmas as dreamlike. When waking up, may he awaken from ignorance. When rising, may he attain the body of the Buddha. When putting on clothes, may he put on the clothes of shame and modesty. When tying a belt, may he be connected with the roots of virtue. When sitting on the seat, may he attain the Vajra seat. When leaning back, may he attain the Bodhi tree. When making a fire, may he burn the firewood of afflictions. When it is blazing, may the fire of wisdom blaze. When it is cooked, may he attain the nectar of wisdom. When eating food, may he attain the food of meditation. When going out, may he be liberated from the city of samsara. When descending the stairs, may he enter samsara for the benefit of sentient beings. When opening the door, may he open the door of the city of liberation. When closing the door, may he close the door of the lower realms. When entering the path, may he enter the noble path. When going upwards, may he place all sentient beings in the bliss of the higher realms. When going downwards, may he cut off the stream of the three lower realms. When meeting sentient beings, may he meet the Buddha.

When placing a foot, may it be for the benefit of all sentient beings; when lifting a foot, may it be to liberate from samsara. Seeing someone adorned, may I obtain the adornments of marks and signs; seeing someone unadorned, may I possess the qualities of practice. Seeing a full container, may I be filled with virtues; seeing an empty one, may I be empty of faults. Seeing sentient beings happy, may I rejoice in the Dharma; seeing them unhappy, may I not be attached to conditioned things. Seeing sentient beings in bliss, may I attain the bliss of Buddhahood; seeing suffering, may all the suffering of sentient beings be pacified. Seeing the sick, may I be liberated from illness. Seeing gratitude, may I repay the kindness to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; seeing ingratitude, may I not be grateful to wrong views. Seeing an opponent, may I be able to subdue all external opponents. Seeing praise, may I praise all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Seeing someone teaching the Dharma, may I obtain the fearlessness of a Buddha. Seeing a Buddha image, may I see all Buddhas without obstruction. Seeing a stupa, may it become a stupa for all beings. Seeing someone doing business, may I obtain the seven noble riches. Seeing someone prostrating, may I obtain the state where the world with its gods cannot see the crown of my head. One should generate such thoughts. This is the fourth, a brief explanation of the precepts of protection. In the Ratnakuta Sutra, it says: The precepts of a Bodhisattva are of three types: the precepts of discipline, the precepts of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the precepts of benefiting sentient beings. So it is said. These three are distinguished by their different aspects, although their essence is the same. First, the precepts of discipline, which restrain negative actions. The meaning spoken in the Akashagarbha Sutra, the Compendium of Trainings explains nineteen root downfalls: five close to downfall for a king, five close to downfall for a minister, eight close to downfall for a beginner, and the common one of abandoning the aspiration for enlightenment. The basis for these downfalls is someone who holds the Bodhisattva vows. It is said that no root downfall occurs for those who are insane, mentally disturbed, or afflicted by feelings, because they have turned away from the place of acceptance and rejection. The five certain offenses for a king are: As stated in the Compendium of Trainings: To steal the property of the Three Jewels is a defeat.
