Sufferings gradually arise. As Karma Pakshi said, "Once old age arrives, it is unbearable." Just like that. This body composed of the four elements, due to the accumulation of the three poisons caused by past karma and immediate circumstances, is afflicted by disease, causing pain, making it impossible to enjoy desired food, drink, and sleep, and requiring the acceptance of unpleasant and harsh medical treatments. There is fear of death, depletion of resources, confusion of consciousness, and so on, with only suffering and discomfort filling the mind. At the time of death, no matter what medicine and rituals are performed, they are of no avail. In the end, one can only lie in bed, eat the last meal, and speak the last words. Separated from all pleasing enjoyments, wealth, retinue, and friends, one must even abandon one's own cherished body, dying with a strong sense of finality. The four sufferings of birth, old age, sickness, and death are not only experienced by all people, but also in the course of life, in order to obtain happiness, wealth, and enjoyment in this life, one risks one's life, endures countless hardships, yet still suffers the pain of not achieving one's desires, the pain of fearing encounters with enemies, the pain of fearing separation from loved ones, the pain of seeking what is not there and not finding it. The more retinue and enjoyment the wealthy have, the greater the suffering they endure to protect these things. As the Four Hundred Verses says: " श्रेष्ठे चित्तस्य दुःखं तु। (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) श्रेष्ठे चित्तस्य दुःखं तु (śreṣṭhe cittasya duḥkhaṃ tu), प्राकृते देहसम्भवः (prākṛte dehasambhavaḥ), दुःखद्वयेन लोकऽयं (duḥkhadvayena loka'yaṃ), हन्यते नित्यशो नरैः (hanyate nityaśo naraiḥ), श्रेष्ठे चित्तस्य दुःखं तु (Superior mind of suffering indeed), प्राकृते देहसम्भवः (Ordinary body of arising), दुःखद्वयेन लोकऽयं (Suffering two this world), हन्यते नित्यशो नरैः (Destroyed constantly by people)." Therefore, just as the lifespans of the four continents are described separately, and for Jambudvipa, the Abhidharmakosha says, "Here it is uncertain, the final is ten years, the initial is immeasurable." Therefore, lifespans are of various lengths and kinds. Second, the suffering of the Asuras. Seeing the complete happiness and wealth of the gods, they constantly harbor unbearable pain of jealousy. They constantly wage war with the gods, and the various weapons of the gods rain down upon them. Because the Asuras have little merit and power, they suffer intense pain from being killed, beaten, dismembered, and cut.

If the head and waist of the gods are not severed, they can be revived even if a vital point is struck. Asuras, like humans, die when a vital point is struck. It is said that the image of death is reflected on the golden earth in a lake called "All-Appearing," and relatives are plunged into grief before the war is over. Most Asuras belong to the dark forces, and although some like the Dharma, they are obscured by karmic obscurations and have no opportunity to discern distinctions. Among the Asuras, the powerful Yaksha race has the same lifespan as the Four Great Kings, the powerful and majestic Deva race is the same as the Thirty-Three, the murderous Rakshasa race is the same as the hungry ghosts, and the vicious Naga race is the same as animals. Third, contemplating the suffering of the gods: the desire realm gods, the form realm gods, and the formless realm gods. First, the desire realm gods, although they have enjoyed the pleasures of the heavens for a long time, due to carelessness, they do not realize it, and when their lifespan is exhausted and they are about to die, the color of their bodies becomes ugly, they dislike their seats, their flower garlands wither, their clothes are stained with black dirt, and unprecedented sweat appears on their bodies. These five signs of death and decay appear seven days before the death of the gods, thus causing the suffering of death. Their own goddesses and retinue abandon them, greatly increasing their suffering and displeasure. After death, the possibility of being reborn as a god is small, and the chance of being reborn as a human is even smaller. Most will fall into the lower realms, knowing that they must endure unbearable suffering for a long time, so their inner suffering is immense. As it is said in the "Letter to a Friend": "The hundred lords, having become worthy of offerings in the world, again fall to the earth due to karma, and having become a universal monarch, they also become servants in samsara." Furthermore, when the gods see the wealth of the gods with great merit, the gods with little merit will feel frustrated and jealous in their hearts, and the powerful gods will expel the weak gods. The Four Great Kings and the Thirty-Three, etc., fight with the Asuras and experience intense suffering such as killing. The gods of the higher realms, the formless realm gods, will also fall to lower states of existence as their respective karmas are exhausted, for example
