The intermediate beings born there experience the appearance of burning in fire. Because they crave to see the place of the cold hells, they go there and are immediately born there. The characteristic of suffering is that the uppermost of the cold hells, the Blister Hell, is afflicted by the cold of wind and ice blizzards, and the body swells with blisters, causing suffering. The Bursting Blister Hell is where the blisters burst due to the power of the cold. Iron worms born from within tear the skin with sharp mouths, and then pus and blood flow out and freeze, causing unbearable suffering. The Achu Hell is colder than before, and only faint groans can be uttered. The Kyihud Hell is even worse than that, the power of the cold prevents words from being spoken, and only faint hissing sounds are emitted. The So Thamtam Pa Hell is where no sound can be made due to extreme cold, the body trembles, and the teeth chatter. Regarding this, Je Phakpa Lhagyal said: 'Afflicted by the cold, becoming a hundred cracks, a thousand cracks, even if flesh and bone crack, one does not die from this. For the evil body of sentient beings who have accumulated evil deeds, such an impossible ripening of karma is accomplished.' Like that. Third, contemplating the suffering of the surrounding area. On each of the four sides of all eight hot hells, there are four of the fire pit, etc., so there are sixteen in total. Whether one escapes after the work of the actual hot hell has lessened, or even if one is born there. No matter which direction one flees, as soon as one places a foot in the Me-ma-mur (Tibetan: མེ་མ་མུར།) lake up to the knees, all the flesh, etc., is burned to bone, and as soon as one lifts the foot, one is revived. After escaping from there, one goes to the Sword-Leaf Forest. There, some sit down to rest in the shade, and the wind moves the swords, and the swords fall like rain, cutting and felling all the bodies, and packs of dogs gather to devour them. Even if one escapes from there, one is chased by fierce predators and climbs and descends the iron trees of the Shalma Mountain, which are covered with sharp iron thorns about sixteen fingers long, and the body is pierced like a sieve, blood flows continuously, and at the top, crows and other iron-beaked birds peck at the eyes, tear the flesh, and pull out the intestines.
