And so on, much is said. In the Sutra of Immaculate Wisdom of Manjushri, it says: Alaya is the basis of all beings, it is the basis of samsara and nirvana, as well as purification. And in the commentary on the Uttaratantra, it says: The beginningless and endless realm of time, is the place of all dharmas, because of this, all beings, can attain nirvana. That is to say, the nature of mind is originally pure, it is the nature of the Dharmakaya, but it is not known by the co-emergent ignorance. Due to the ignorance of the completely imputed, three kinds of habits arise: the habit of the object of grasping, which does not exist either internally or externally, but appears as the outer world of vessel and contents, that is, the five objects of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. The habit of the meaning of grasping, due to the ignorance of the Alaya, produces the five senses and the Alaya consciousness, as well as the mind and the afflicted mind, that is, the discriminating thoughts of the eight consciousnesses and so on, the mind and the intellect and the consciousness are the same, possessing the nature of being universally present. The habit of the deluded body, is the body of the six kinds of beings that these consciousnesses rely on, composed of many limbs and parts that gather and separate, therefore it is called the body. Thus, by the three habits, constantly deluded in the three times, the three realms become the basis of delusion. The three of body, speech, and mind have the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. Possessing the nature of appearance, semi-appearance, and non-appearance, it is impermanent, suffering, change, and action, universally present in the three sufferings. And the cause of happiness and suffering is the two kinds of karma, good and bad. As it says in the Garland of Jewels: Good karma produces happiness, likewise it produces all good destinies. Bad karma produces suffering, likewise it produces all bad destinies. The good deeds to be practiced are: protecting the lives of sentient beings, giving alms without stinginess, abiding in the practice of pure conduct. These are the three actions of the body. Not lying, speaking truthfully, speaking gently, reconciling discord, praising the virtues of others, these are the four actions of speech. Having few desires and being content, loving others, believing in the law of karma, these are the three actions of the mind. These should always be practiced in one's own mind-stream.
