With the wretched cries of the poor and destitute, earnestly call upon the eight great nāgas to listen. The remnants of the Buddha's teachings, beings are disturbed by afflictions, the elements decline, glory and auspiciousness wane, tormented by the karma of hunger and poverty, there is no other hope but you. Please have compassion and listen, eight great nāgas! Invoke your vows, with the rays of compassion, first the common offering, and the offering of a thousand worlds, etc. Hūṃ!
