Grant the empowerment of the Demon-Subduing Black Mother! Repeat three times. Having completed the process of making such requests, visualize as follows: This place itself is not like an ordinary appearance, but in the center of a pure, non-dualistic realm arising from the self-display of wisdom. In front of the main deity of the mandala, who is inseparable from the glorious lama and the Demon-Subduing Lion-Faced Mother, visualize all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions and three times, along with all objects of refuge, abiding as if vividly present. In their presence, thinking that all sentient beings, self and others, take refuge until enlightenment, recite the refuge, and then repeat this root of the Great Vehicle—the altruistic mind of enlightenment: Hūṃ! From this day until enlightenment, I take refuge in the lama, the Three Jewels, and the mandala deities, I take refuge in the assembly of wisdom dakinis, At all times and places, I take refuge. I generate the supreme mind of enlightenment for the powerful activity of subduing demons, I vow to attain the ultimate state of enlightenment. Repeat three times. Thus, the preliminaries of empowerment, the request for empowerment, refuge, and mind generation have been well completed. In order to lay the foundation for the actual empowerment, please perform the following visualization of invoking the wisdom beings. Oṃ Mahā Śūnyatā, etc., sprinkle water with the vase's spout ornament. From emptiness, in the center of the arising of a red-black dharma source, on the seat of the arrogant male and female, lotus, sun, and moon, especially visualize your own mind as a curved knife of molten sky-iron, marked with a wheel. At its center is the syllable Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,hūṃ,seed syllable), deep blue-black, possessing splendor, radiating light, offering to the noble ones. For the benefit of sentient beings, invoke all the splendor, power, qualities of the Buddhas of the three times, wrathful deities, wrathful mothers, dakinis, etc., all gathered and absorbed into the syllable Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,hūṃ,seed syllable). The splendor blazes intensely and completely transforms, from which arises the Demon-Subduing Dakini, with a lion face, one face, two arms, body color deep blue-black, blazing. Mouth open, tongue rolled, teeth tightly clenched, hair reddish-black, dense like clouds, three eyes gazing in anger. Beard and eyebrows flashing like fire. The right hand raises a curved knife marked with a wheel into the sky, the left hand holds a skull cup filled with blood at the chest. The right leg is bent, with the heel pressed against the bhaga (lotus seat), the left leg extended. At the left elbow is the essence of the father heruka hidden—the vajra khaṭvāṅga, embraced with bliss.
