Practices are similar to those for the deceased. Furthermore, these are spoken from the perspective of being done only for the deceased. If done for the living, it is very good and powerful, and special cases such as changing the conjunction of words can be done as explained in the "Accompanying Illusions of Sky-goers." It is said that it is permissible to do so. The reincarnation of Vairochana, the great vidyadhara Terdak Lingpa, says in the Vajrasattva Abode Prophecy: Sometimes, for the purification of obscurations of the living, this very abode prophecy ritual is also applied. If you wish to combine it with the ritual, then for those whose target is nearby, abandon the generation of the support and the summoning of consciousness, and from the clearing of obstacles onwards to the teaching of the path purification, change "deceased" to "fortunate one," and in general, for the living, place the target itself in the mandala, and only the empowerment is the nature of the purification of obscurations at that time, and it will be accomplished by doing so, but it can only be understood through the previous agreement of the abode prophecy ritual. Burn the effigy, or burn and purify the hair, nails, etc. of the target, considering them as the aggregate of the ripening of sins and obscurations. If the target is in another place, then arrange the effigy as the support of the target, and perform the generation, summoning, and finally burning, etc., as just explained. Some may think that this is improper, but if so, then summoning consciousness into the enemy's effigy and separating it, etc., all the various activities of manifest action spoken by the Victorious Ones in the tantras would become meaningless, because it would not harm the support of the living. If it would cause harm, then here, the target is the actual living person, and what certainty is there that summoning consciousness into their support, purifying sins and obscurations, and empowering, etc., beneficial rituals would not benefit them? Because the All-Knowing One has taught the thoughts of benefit and harm and the results of various methods. Therefore, do not hinder the performance of such rituals, because arguments that do not conform to the Dharma are not allowed, and many living rituals also come from the profound treasures of the Great Orgyen, etc. Similarly, the great accomplished Karma Chakme does not summon consciousness into the donor's image, name, etc., but the donor's sins.

After placing the rituals of dispelling, attracting, and integrating evil spirits and diseases, as well as offering food for fire pujas, etc., the essence of sins, obscurations, diseases, and evil spirits is burned in the fire of wisdom. Additionally, purifying the poisons of others (the deceased) and performing empowerments, etc., are done like performing death rituals, as stated in the Mountain Dharma. Thus, the great treasure revealer, the 7th Nirak Tulku, Padma Thekchok Tenpai Gyaltsen, said, "In places where countries are sinking and in the Kham region (western Sichuan today), people are making offerings to lamas. There are many who call themselves 'living death rituals,' so this is very necessary. Please create a ritual for living death rituals." Taking this instruction to heart, based on the treasure revelation of the great vidyadhara Terdak Lingpa, the Vajrasattva Place Prophecy, and the secret Place Prophecy of Sangdak Drolgar Jedrung Tulku, without altering the words of the great beings, the Vajrasattva Place Prophecy of Mindrolling's treasure revelation, the Vajrasattva ritual of this treasure revelation, adding and subtracting words and living death rituals without mixing in self-made elements. The mountain dweller who follows these holy ones, Kalsang Wangden (the author's self-designation), has recorded this. May this (ritual) flourish and spread in all directions, times, and places. May there be auspiciousness! The Auspicious Swift Path for Purifying the Deceased's Obscurations Through the Door of Lama Vajrasattva. Title: The Auspicious Swift Path for Purifying the Deceased's Obscurations Through the Door of Lama Vajrasattva. Lama Vajrasattva, the master of the hundred families, the hundred-petaled lotus blossoms at your inseparable feet, may you always abide as the ornament of the supreme limbs, and grant the supreme benefit and happiness to beings! Here, the ritual of benefiting the deceased through the door of Vajrasattva, combined with the order of how it is appropriate. Regarding the purification of the corpse and the method of performing the seven-day ceremony based on the nameplate, it is written according to the "Perfect Spontaneous Empowerment Tantra" of the seventeen tantras of the Great Perfection. First, in front of the deceased's corpse, create a mandala of two cubits in length, etc. Smear saffron and other fragrant scents, and draw an eight-petaled lotus in the center. If the mandala is made of precious jewels or clay, then smear it with white earth. Place a vase made of precious jewels or clay, with vase ornaments, neckband, and binding rope, filled with blessed substances and pure water. On the four sides of the vase, write four A's (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) with vermilion or safflower juice.
