From this world, after passing as many Buddha fields as the grains of sand in nine Ganges rivers, in a world called Jeweled Ocean, there dwells a Bhagavan, a Tathagata, an Arhat, a Samyaksambuddha named Ocean of Dharma, Supreme Wisdom, Play of Intelligence, Manifest Knowledge. He dwells there, lives, exists, and teaches the Dharma. Manjushri, that Bhagavan, in the past when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, made four great aspirations. What are the four? His first great aspiration is: When I in the future attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, at the time I attain enlightenment, all those sentient beings who are engaged in farming, sowing seeds, doing business, fighting, arguing, doing evil deeds, all those, just by hearing my name, by my power, may they immediately be endowed with all necessities of life, may they be without harmful intent, and may they always practice virtuous Dharma. This is what he aspired. His second great aspiration is: When I in the future attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, at the time I attain enlightenment, all those sentient beings who have taken up the path of non-virtuous actions, and by taking it up have become hell beings, just by hearing my name, by my power, may they be endowed with the path of the ten virtuous actions, and may no sentient being go to hell. This is what he aspired. His third great aspiration is: When I in the future attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, at the time I attain enlightenment, all those sentient beings who have fallen under the power of others, and are being cut, beaten, imprisoned, or are liable to be killed, just by hearing my name, by my light, until the ultimate enlightenment, may the bonds and beatings be cut off. This is what he aspired. When he was practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, his fourth great aspiration is: When I in the future attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, I

At that time, when I attain enlightenment, may the names of those sentient beings who are about to die, having committed various sins and non-virtuous deeds that lead to a short life, be heard in their ears at the time of their death. May they, having heard my name, be born in the happy realms and heavenly worlds. May they experience the bliss of gods and humans until the ultimate enlightenment. May all sinful actions be completely purified. Thus he prayed. Mañjuśrī, that Bhagavan Tathāgata Arhat Samyaksaṃbuddha, who is the all-knowing one who sports with the supreme wisdom of the ocean of Dharma, made these four great aspirations when he was formerly practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Mañjuśrī, the qualities and arrangements of the Buddha-field of that which is well situated in the world, the realm of the ocean of jewels, are like those of a world that possesses jewels. Mañjuśrī, furthermore, whichever son or daughter of good family hears the names of those seven perfectly complete Buddhas, and having heard them, holds them, rises up in the morning and remembers them, generates faith, and makes offerings with flowers, incense, fragrant incense, excellent scents, garlands, unguents, musical sounds, cymbals, and drums, and writes them on scrolls and holds them, and writes the names of this Dharma, or causes others to write them, and listens attentively, and makes offerings to those who speak the Dharma with all necessities and equipment, those ones will be blessed by all the Buddhas, and will become perfectly and completely enlightened until they attain the enlightenment of Buddhahood. The Second Chapter. Mañjuśrī, to the east of this Buddha-field, beyond Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of ten Ganges rivers, there is a world called Manifestation of Lapis Lazuli. There resides the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, the Buddha Bhagavan named Bhaiṣajyaguru Vaiḍūryaprabhārāja.
