之后，菩萨摩诃萨法王子文殊从座位上起身，将上衣披于一肩，右膝着地，向世尊所在之处合掌，对世尊如是禀告：世尊，为了天、龙、药叉、罗刹、鹏、人非人、大腹行、沙门、婆罗门、国王、大臣、人与非人等众多前来听法者，世尊请慈悲垂听，若能听闻，则一切有情皆能于无上正等觉不退转，一切罪业及业障皆得清净及灭尽，且不受恶魔所扰，请世尊宣说彼等如来的名号，往昔愿行的殊胜之处，以及佛土功德庄严之处。世尊，如来对一切无不见、无不闻、无不知，即使恒河沙数微尘之劫，也如今日或明日般明了。如来若能宣说最初发菩提心，往昔愿行，以及以如来为对境的佛土功德庄严，并如实开示，世尊，末世末劫五百岁时，将出现相似正法，为了摄受有情，请世尊宣说如来诸多的善巧方便，以及往昔愿行的殊胜之处。之后，世尊如来以迦陵频伽之音赞叹文殊童子说：善哉，文殊，善哉善哉！文殊，你具足慈悲，文殊，你生起无量慈悲，为了利益一切有情，以及有情被种种业障所障蔽

Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the Dharma Prince Manjushri, rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and with palms joined, bowed towards the Blessed One and said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, for the sake of the many who have gathered to listen to the Dharma, including gods, nagas, yakshas, rakshasas, garudas, kimnaras, mahoragas, shramanas, brahmins, kings, ministers, humans, and non-humans, Blessed One, please listen with compassion. If they can hear, then all sentient beings will become irreversible from unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, all sins and karmic obscurations will be purified and exhausted, and they will not be disturbed by evil demons. Please, Blessed One, expound on the names of those Tathagatas, the extensive distinctions of their past aspirations, and the qualities and arrangements of the Buddha-fields. Blessed One, the Tathagatas do not lack sight, hearing, or knowledge. Even as many kalpas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, they perceive as if it were today or tomorrow. If the Tathagatas speak of their initial generation of the mind of enlightenment, their past aspirations, and the qualities and arrangements of the Buddha-fields focused on the Tathagatas, and practice by truly revealing them, Blessed One, in the future, in the final five hundred years of the degenerate age, there will be those who fabricate the sacred Dharma. Therefore, for the sake of embracing sentient beings, please, Blessed One, expound on the many skillful means of the Tathagatas and the extensive distinctions of their past aspirations." Then, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, with the voice and melody of a kalavinka bird, praised the youthful Manjushri, saying: "Well done, Manjushri, well done, well done! Manjushri, you are endowed with compassion. Manjushri, you have generated immeasurable compassion for the benefit of all sentient beings, and sentient beings are obscured by various obscurations.
