May all be perfectly fulfilled! Manjushri, the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyak-sambuddha Medicine Master Bhaishajyaguru, when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, made those twelve great aspirations. Manjushri, the aspirations of that Tathagata Medicine Master Bhaishajyaguru, and the qualities of that Buddha-field, cannot be exhausted even in a kalpa or more than a kalpa. That Buddha-field is exceedingly pure, without stones, gravel, or pebbles, without the faults of desire, without evil destinies, without the sound of suffering, without the substance of women, the land, walls, fences, stables, window nets, and eaves are of the nature of lapis lazuli, the pillars and architraves are of the nature of the seven precious jewels. Just like the Sukhavati world, the qualities and arrangements of the Buddha-field appearing as lapis lazuli are just like that. In that world, among the countless and immeasurable Bodhisattvas, there are two chief Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, one named Sunlight Illuminating, and the second named Moonlight Illuminating, they are the holders of the treasury of the sacred Dharma of the Bhagavan Tathagata Medicine Master Bhaishajyaguru. Manjushri, therefore, sons or daughters of good family with faith should aspire to be born in that Buddha-field. Furthermore, the Bhagavan spoke to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, there are some beings who are separated from virtue, who do not know what is virtuous and what is not virtuous. Those beings are overwhelmed by attachment, and do not know giving and the ripening of the fruits of giving. Those beings are foolish children, separated from the power of faith, they are manifestly diligent in accumulating and protecting wealth, but their minds do not go to properly giving. When the time of giving is near, they become unhappy as if cutting flesh from their own bodies. Those beings do not fully use it even for themselves, let alone for their father and mother?

What need is there to mention wives, sons, and daughters? What need is there to mention male servants, female servants, and employees? What need is there to mention beggars? Such sentient beings, after dying from here, will be reborn in the world of pretas. Or they will be reborn in the realm of animals. Among them, those who were previously humans, who have heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Medicine Master Bhaisajyaguru, even if they dwell in the world of Yama, or dwell in the realm of animals, there, the name of that Tathagata will appear and as soon as they remember it, after dying from there, they will be reborn in the human world, and will remember their past lives. Because they fear the terrors of the lower realms, they will not seek the qualities of desire, and will be very fond of giving, praising giving, and giving up all possessions. Gradually, they will even give their own heads, hands, feet, eyes, flesh, and blood to beggars. What need is there to mention other heaps of wealth? Manjushri, there are also sentient beings who hold the precepts of the Tathagatas. Those who have wrongly entered the precepts, wrongly entered views, those who hold the precepts only guard the precepts, do not widely seek learning, and do not understand the profound meaning of the sutras spoken by the Tathagata. Those who have learned much become very arrogant. Oppressed by arrogance, they become jealous of others and usurp the holy Dharma, abandoning the holy Dharma. Such foolish people are the retinue of Mara. They themselves enter the wrong path and cause countless billions of sentient beings to fall into the great abyss. Such sentient beings will go to the unbearable hells. Those who were previously humans, who have heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Medicine Master Bhaisajyaguru, even if those sentient beings dwell in hell, there, by the power of the Buddha, the Tathagata

Their names will become manifest, and they will be reborn in the human world again. They will have broad views, be diligent, and have virtuous thoughts. They will renounce their homes, become monks in the teachings of the Tathagata, and ultimately practice the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Manjushri, if there are beings who praise me but speak ill of other precept holders out of jealousy, those beings who praise me and curse others will suffer in the three evil realms for many thousands of years. After countless thousands of years, they will die and be reborn as animals such as cows, horses, mules, and donkeys. They will be beaten with whips and sticks, suffer from hunger and thirst, and carry heavy loads on the road. Even if they obtain a human body, they will always be born into low castes, becoming slaves and subject to others. Those who in previous lives have heard the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, Medicine Master Bhaisajyaguru, will be completely liberated from all suffering by that root of virtue. They will become sharp-witted, intelligent, clear-minded, mindful, aspire to seek virtue, strive for it, and always be able to associate with virtuous friends. They will cut the noose of Mara, break the shell of ignorance, and dry up the river of afflictions. They will be completely liberated from birth, old age, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, discomfort, and turmoil. Manjushri, there are also beings who particularly enjoy strife and slander, and some beings incite others to fight, argue, and compete with each other. These beings, because they have a strong mind of contention, will manifestly accumulate various kinds of non-virtuous deeds through body, speech, and mind. They do not want to benefit each other, but always strive to harm each other. They will summon forest gods, tree gods, and mountain gods.
