Second Chapter. Mañjuśrī, to the east from this Buddha-field, after passing Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of ten Ganges rivers, there is a world called Vaiḍūrya-appearing. There resides the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, complete in knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, Tamer of Beings, Supreme, Teacher of Gods and Humans, Buddha, Bhagavan, named Bhaiṣajyaguru Vaiḍūryaprabhārāja. Mañjuśrī, that Bhagavan Tathāgata Bhaiṣajyaguru Vaiḍūryaprabhārāja, in the past when practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, made these twelve great aspirations. What are the twelve? His first great aspiration is: When I attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment in the future, at that time, may the light of my body illuminate countless and immeasurable worlds, shining brightly. May all sentient beings be adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being and the eighty minor marks, and may all sentient beings be like me. Thus he aspired. His fourth great aspiration is: When I, in the future, attain the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, and become fully enlightened, when I attain enlightenment, may all beings who have entered the evil paths be placed on the path to enlightenment. Whoever is completely afflicted by various diseases, without refuge, without protector, without food and medicine, without relatives, poor, and suffering, may all of them be completely pacified by the sound of my name reaching their ears.
