I don't know where I learned some superficial knowledge, (they) said if there is no work, we will become like this. Because I was young, I didn't know what to do, and I thought my wisdom and understanding were better than theirs. So I told all the high and low people a lot of Buddhist teachings, and as a result, many of them felt ashamed. They said, "This Khampa Tulku is a thorn in our side," so they hated me. The monk who kept the precepts purely said, "You are very wise, they are very jealous of you. If it takes a long time, who knows what they will think. You should consult with your guru and ask the Rinpoche at Chimpu (Mchims phu) for instructions, it would be better." I thought it made sense, so I asked for instructions, and the result was neither good nor bad. After that, I thought to myself that my parents and all the gurus were this Rinpoche, and it would be great if I could serve him well. So I took Konchok Sherab (Dkon mchog shes rab) and Sangye Gonpo (Sangs rgyas mgon po) as companions and went to Upper Kham to beg for alms. In Samye Gokar (bsam yas rgod dkar), I met a monk. He asked, "Where are you going?" I said, "I'm going home." He said, "You three look very pitiful, your friends may deceive you, be careful. I wish you all the best, Kham is very good." I said, "Okay." I thought to myself, "This monk is kind-hearted, I am small and they are big, they may not be good to me." After walking for a while, I looked back and the monk was gone. I asked the two of them, "Where did that monk go?" They said, "Who is there?" I said, "Didn't you see the person who was talking to me just now?" They said, "I didn't see him." I thought to myself, "Who could that be?" But I couldn't be sure. After that, I arrived at Jangmer Zhung (byang mer gzhung). The omen was not good, and I met a benefactor called "Place of Crying", who said an old woman had died. I performed the rituals and stayed for a few days. The two monks fought like Asuras. I was powerless and there was nothing I could do. Konchok Sherab (Dkon mchog shes rab) was unwilling to go with me, and I felt very painful. At this time, a benefactor named Drom Ari ('brom a ris) helped me and the situation improved. The two of them separated. Sangye Gonpo (Sangs rgyas mgon po) was a little kinder to me, and I went with him to the Hor Gyatso (hor rgya mtsho) tribe in Nakchukha (nags chu kha).

Therefore, I sought help from the niece of Tsangsar. The Hor brothers also provided moderate assistance. Because I was young and not accustomed to village rituals, I experienced much suffering. When taken to Khawa Gyatso and Takring Chö, there was heavy snowfall. All the Hor people, due to their religious belief being only Bon, said that the lord of plague, the blood-air demon, had brought down the snow, and they uttered many curses. After that, taking about eighty horses and livestock obtained from the auspiciousness of death and life, and a moderate amount of camping equipment, I went to Chimphu at Samye Monastery and offered them as purification to the Rinpoche. The Rinpoche said, "Go to Lhasa and request ordination from the all-knowing Gyalwa (Dalai Lama). Also present this letter of mine. Also request a travel permit from the presence of Yingsa." So, with the offering of horses, I went to Lhasa. I met Gyalwa Rinpoche and Yingsa, etc. I offered incense, lamps, and scarves to Jowo Rinpoche, and repeatedly prayed that all beings connected to me would be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Sukhavati. The official of the benefactor also provided great help and kindness in both worldly and Dharma matters. Because I did not particularly want to take the full monastic vows, I gave up on it. I offered the travel permit, the bestowed blessings, and the tokens to the Rinpoche, who said, "This is very useful," and was very pleased. When asked what name was given after taking the full monastic vows, I replied that no monastic name was given. After that, I arrived at the great sacred site of Trawa Ritröna, at the beginning of the Year of the Male Monkey. In the northeast direction of the sacred Dakpa Shelri mountain, is the sacred site blessed by the Second Buddha of Oddiyana (Padmasambhava). The Glorious Round Mountain is the palace of a thousand Buddhas, surrounded by one hundred and eight great lakes. The sacred site where the Dakini practice and the nature of reality converge. A hidden valley, a secluded place. In that very place called the Profound Path Vajra Fence, where the Rinpoche had erected the victory banner of practice and was staying in a three-year retreat, I sat there and listened to the three sections and nine spaces of the Great Perfection teachings, one hundred and eighty-four pith instructions, and the essence of six hundred thousand verses. The Great Perfection teachings, the Secret Heart Drop.
