As such, the mandala of awareness, the indivisible nature of the absolute space, is like the sky, and within it, everything appears. How do the material phenomena that appear as objects, the consciousness that appears as subjects, and the unconditioned phenomena such as the sky, all appear within the reality of the Dharmakaya? Therefore, the Dharmakaya is not like material phenomena, consciousness, or the sky; it is the nature of all of these, transcending existence and non-existence. When one recognizes this in the vast expanse of its nature, free from mental fabrication, it is called recognizing the innate co-emergent or self-awareness. The meaning of the first two lines is to introduce the way the essence abides. Knowing this, one is not moved by the negative view of karmic winds, hence it is called abiding like a mountain king. Secondly, the sound of A (Tibetan, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: without), the speech that arises from E (Tibetan, Devanagari: ए, Romanized Sanskrit: e, Literal Chinese meaning: come), introduces the way appearances play out. Therefore, reality is beyond words, known individually by oneself. Because it abides in the equality of the three times, beyond the elaborations of decrease, increase, coming, going, existence, non-existence, etc., the various appearances of samsara and nirvana appear as if they arise, cease, and remain, appearing infallibly through the way of dependent origination. At the very moment of appearance, there is not the slightest change from the equality of the unborn and unceasing realm, yet appearances do not cease, but arise as the play of the absolute space. For example, just as the empty forms that appear in a sky distorted by squinting eyes are not made from anything other than the sky, when these objects and subjects are examined, although they are solitary, appearances do not cease. These appearances do not need to be negated, nor can they be established; they are merely appearances within the absolute space, without acceptance or rejection. Knowing that it is sufficient to leave them as they are is the second introduction, which is abiding in appearances. Thirdly, all the dharmas of the ground, path, and fruition are complete in that one, do not go beyond that one, and there is not a particle of change from that. E (Tibetan, Devanagari: ए, Romanized Sanskrit: e, Literal Chinese meaning: come) is Eka (Tibetan, Devanagari: एक, Romanized Sanskrit: eka, Literal Chinese meaning: one). The first letter of the name of one indicates that the meaning of what is said is cut off at one point, just as there is no realm to be found that transcends the sky. This shows the abiding of awareness. Thus, when the meaning of one's own place is recognized in its own place, the yoga of abiding in one's own place arises, free from the waves of effort and mental activity, hence it is called abiding like the ocean. All the key points of the Great Perfection, primordial purity, are exhausted here.

One should know that all are gathered in the state of one taste. Emaho! Son, realize the way the essence of reality abides! Look upon the magical displays of phenomenal play as self-liberated! Settle definitively in the expanse of the single bindu! Emaho! By letting go, the meaning of the essential nature is seen! Self-cognizant luminosity, without limit, pervades all. Primordial resonance, spontaneously present, is clearly manifest in emptiness. Since the essence is pure from the beginning, there is no change or alteration, and not even a particle is stained by the qualities of characteristics. Like a rainbow on the surface of clear space, the appearances of objects and the six aggregates shine forth in that state. Those appearances, empty of inherent existence, are like the moon in water. Although they are not other than the expanse, correct the errors of limited conceptualization by measuring the expanse against them. Awareness is primordial resonance, luminous and innate, the nature of reality, unaltered and untransformed by anyone. It is unchanging and pervades all. The nature of all does not depend on anything. Mind arises as a display within that state. It grasps at the limited sense of "I" and "mine" with attachment. Appearances arising from conditions are like illusory emanations. Understand that mind is the path, and awareness is the path, O son of noble family! Do not grasp at it as if it were a mirage in the sky. The nature itself abides from the beginning, yet the power of play is obscured by the impurities of changing objects and subjects. By clinging to duality, the meaning of non-duality is not seen. The nature of reality is inherently free from duality. Therefore, that innate nature, which does not abide in anything—neither existence nor non-existence, neither self nor other, neither objects nor subjects, neither purity nor impurity—is the self-luminous nature, the single bindu. Primordial resonance, self-luminous and clear, is called rigpa (awareness), but it is not divided into object and subject. The winds of change and the transformations of bindus obscure the expanse of the mind, which is free from limitations, and one wanders endlessly due to clinging to the grasping and fixation of "I" and "mine." The co-emergent nature is lost for a long time. Through the power of skillful means, the instructions of the lama, and the blessings of the holy ones entering the heart, one's own nature appears manifestly from within oneself. At that time, all displays become self-liberated. If the co-emergent nature is not found, then all displays become a path of bondage. When it is found, everything becomes of equal taste, and nothing other than the great bliss of unchanging is found. Emaho! The nature of mind is luminosity, the very essence of mantra. Seeing the meaning of the essential nature.
