Since it is necessary to stabilize the place, it is very important to maintain the continuity of mindfulness without distraction, keeping awareness in its natural state. When maintaining it in this way, sometimes there is a dull, non-conceptual state with nothing whatsoever; sometimes there is a clear, non-conceptual state where the clarity of insight arises; sometimes there is attachment to the experience of bliss; sometimes there is no attachment to the experience of bliss; sometimes there is attachment to various clear experiences; sometimes there is detachment from clear and pure, untainted experiences; sometimes there is a rough, unpleasant experience; sometimes there is a smooth, pleasant experience; sometimes one loses meditation by following after excessive, turbulent thoughts; sometimes there is a murky state where dullness and clarity cannot be distinguished, and so on. Various waves of thoughts and karmic winds, which have been habitual since beginningless time, arise in ways that cannot be determined or measured. This is like seeing various pleasant and unpleasant places when embarking on a long journey, so without deliberately clinging to whatever arises, continue on your own path. Especially during the unfamiliar period, when various thoughts blaze like fire, during the time of fluctuating experiences, do not be bothered by them. By maintaining continuity with moderate tension and relaxation, subsequent experiences such as those that have been attained will gradually arise. At this time, in general, take as your foundation the recognition of the differences between awareness and ignorance, the all-ground and the dharmakaya, consciousness and wisdom, based on experience through the oral instructions of the guru. When maintaining it, Just as water becomes clear when undisturbed, the key is to prioritize the oral instruction of the wisdom that naturally manifests as the nature of consciousness when consciousness is left in its own place. Do not engage in the analysis of acceptance and rejection, asking, "Is this that I am meditating on consciousness or wisdom?" and do not develop the interplay of understanding from books, because that will slightly obscure both shamatha and vipashyana. When the habit of shamatha, which is the stability of the stream of mindfulness that rests in its natural state, and the way in which vipashyana, which is self-knowing and self-illuminating, spontaneously connects, have become stable, the view of the Great Perfection, the self-arisen wisdom in which the natural state and the luminosity of self-nature are primordially inseparable, will arise. This is the oral instruction for abiding in equality like space. As the venerable Sarahas said, "Having completely abandoned thought and what is to be thought, abide like a thoughtless child." Through such a method of abiding, and by striving to rely on the guru's words, which are endowed with the oral instruction for recognizing awareness, there is no doubt that coemergent wisdom will arise. From the very beginning, one's own mind.

The nature of mind, co-emergent with awareness, gives rise to naturally occurring wisdom. This is non-different from the nature of all phenomena and is also the primordial, essential luminosity. Therefore, resting in one's natural state and recognizing the awareness of one's own nature, or the way to cultivate the nature of mind, is a key instruction that encompasses a hundred essential points in one. It is also what should be continuously cultivated. The measure of familiarity is held by the luminosity of the night. The sign of being on the correct path is realized through the spontaneous increase of faith, compassion, wisdom, and so on. Being comfortable and effortless is known through one's own experience. Being profound and swift is determined by comparing the level of realization with those who have entered other paths that require great effort and diligence. Attaining the result by meditating on the luminosity of one's own mind also occurs when the obscurations of conceptual thoughts and their habitual imprints are naturally purified. The two wisdoms effortlessly expand, and the primordial, ultimate state is attained, with the three kayas spontaneously accomplished. Profound! Guhya Samaya! On the 12th day of the second month of the Fire Horse year, for the sake of town mantra practitioners and others who do not exert themselves much in listening and contemplating but desire practical experience in their minds, this profound instruction, composed by Mipham Jamyang Dorje, accords with the easily understood language of the Dharma of experienced old practitioners' experiential instructions. May it be virtuous and auspicious! Homage to the Guru Manjushri! Although the inconceivable nature of reality cannot be expressed, for the fortunate ones who wish to enter the meaning of the profound nature of reality, I will briefly indicate it with words. The so-called nature of mind is the uncompounded self-face of awareness, which is entered by the blessings of the lama and recognized by the instructions. What is its nature like? Its nature is emptiness, without an object of focus; its essence is clarity, spontaneously accomplished; its compassion is all-pervasive, without obstruction; it is the awareness of the three kayas, indivisible. Therefore, this awareness, which is not anything, is such that the way it appears is unobstructed in any way. Thus spoke the Vidyadhara Garab Dorje in his last testament. In short, the nature of mind is the naturally abiding reality from the very beginning. This is the primordial awareness, free from fabrication and vast. To express this from the perspective of negation, it is not something that can be grasped as an object, it is not a nihilistic non-existence, that
